I've surfed very close to whales a couple of times. Once when I was a grom at IB a baby whale came super close to me and my buddy. And another time at Sand Spit up in MDO we were very close to a much larger whale. I'd say we were about 10 yards away maybe a bit closer at the Sand Spit, which was a bit unnerving as it was a big fvcken whale
