Re: Build thread - John Cherry Simm-21

I love Uncle John's work. Some of the cleanest and most beautiful looking boards that can be made.

Once things settle down for me financially (I'm having a kid, like THAT'S gonna happen) - I fully intend to have him make me a glider.

....have fun with making that happen! My experience is you need to stay clear of your wife or you'll magically have a baby sister or brother for your firstborn real quick
holding your first baby for the first is gonna blow your mind, I mean like kindofablown... and once you get over the fear of holding your firstborn then it all just turns to one giant ...then there's the adjustment period..which usually lasts about 4 years... I'm just playin', but get ready for the hardest thing you've ever done to start.

so I wake up this morning and a new swell has arrived... of course its Memorial Day weekend... gulping my coffee, packing my boards...time to go find an uncrowded spot

not to get off track, so here's some fin photos for ya'

The blue template is actually on the plastic shapers square.
I will run these through the thickness sander, get them super clean, then template and foil them.

the chevron pattern, using the white holly.....The finset shows the two lead fins together with double-sided tape, ready to foil. The faint white lines on the twin keels are simply landmarks I use during the first stages of foiling.

and on Gliders...
7'0, 8'0, and the 9'0 Pelican... this is John's brother...can you imagine having JC as your brother..ohhhh the board porn you would have access to
JC calls this longer Simm-21 the Pelican due its glide and ride qualities
black resin tint... amazing

time to go surfy.
