So after back-to-back winters in the snow Im heading home to the coast and need a new craft. Have been keeping my eye on designs, and after riding a couple of stubbier-style boards on an impromptu trip to Morocco, Im convinced. Now I just need some schooling from the brains trust on what to get. Narrowed it down (I think), to the 2 boards in the title but Im open to suggestions. Im mid 20's, fit enough, 140ish lbs, more front-footed than back, and surf 4+ times per week in a variety of conditions (mostly punchy, hollow beachies, and wall-e points in West Oz, though ill be spending March touring down the west coast of the States). Previously, I was riding a stock 5'11 K-Board, which I LOVED in good surf.. but Im looking for something a little more rider friendly, with a bit more range, and a more "set and forget" type fun ride. Sizing Im not sure, something in the 5'10 range for the JS, and maybe smaller for the Lost. But like I said, school me! |

Big fan of the DHD Project 15: Project 15 I don't tend to get along well with boards with wide tails and the DHD pulls in the tail at the end while keeping volume through the middle. Makes it work in tighter, punchier waves. Never ridden either of the other two. At 140 in your mid 20s you could go pretty small if you wanted to. I'm 40 and weight 160 and have the 5'10 x 19 1/4 x 2 3/8. It might be even a little big for me. Could get away with the 5'9. His Switchblade model looks fun too. More geared toward the low end. Like a highly refined Dumpster Diver. |

My vote goes to the T Patterson XXX Single concave all the way through, amazing all-rounder, loose, fast and really fun. Effortless Very HP but works in crappier waves too Front-footed friendly, surfs off the rail more than the tail. Still works from the back foot though, a big sweet spot

Quote: +1. Awesome board. I ride similar size boards as you and got a 5'6 x 18 3/4 x 2 1/8 XXX. Loved it, but I had to sell it in Morocco to avoid airline baggage fees. The only change I would make to it is to order it as a 5'7". |

Sheeeit, more options. Im interested in this TP.. though I was under the impression that double conc under the front foot was better for creating lift for a front footed surfer? |

I don't think the subdriver has double concave under the front foot

I'm a very front footed surfer and the TP worked well for me. |

I've had both the Patterson xxx and the JS konfusion Konfusion is a great board, turns on a dime, but need a slightly punchier wave to work Dosen't feel any more front-footed than the tripe X to me. Also dosen't paddle as well imo Patterson makes great board for California waves... and beyond Either way you'll be stoke
