SURF'S UP FOR 100 MEMBERS OF THE HB WAHINE KAI

Huntington Beach, California-November 23, 2004-HB Wahine Kai (Hawaiian for women of the sea) is an all new surf club for women in the Huntington Beach area. The club creates a supportive, nonjudgmental community of female surfers who are linked together by a love for surfing. The club is for women 18 years and older who are shortboarders, funboarders, and longboarders. The level of surfing experience runs from novice to seasoned competitors.

Aimee Vlachos, the club founder in conjunction with HB Wahine- the all girl boarding house,organized the club that allows women to come together and form a community of female surfers. "The response has been phenomenal" according to Vlachos. " Since the clubs first meeting in October of this year, we have been tripling in growth each month and now have over 100 members."

Kori Nevarez of Cypress, California a member of HB Wahine Kai had this to say about the club, "This club is such a neat idea and a long time coming. This club is the perfect way for women to come together and surf as one."

The HB Wahine Kai women’s surf club meets every other weekend at various surf spots throughout Southern California. Women of all abilities are invited to participate. There are no membership fees or dues. Membership is open to women who attend the surf sessions or one of the monthly cookouts on the beach.
