paint on some resin...uh oh...why is it fissling and where the hell are all these bubbles coming from???...oh CRAP its MELTING...QUICK...wipe it all off and shopvac it outta there!!!
after 1 min...

The shop vac probably made some cool noises just before it quit working.

not too much you can do with this but dig all the damage out and back fill with filter filled epoxy and boy! will that make for an unbalanced board! this is why they put thoet labels on the board to tel lyou that they are eps/ epoxy built. al very long time ago i tried to glass a sytrofoam board --(the blank was a slab of commerical insulation )with a poly resin and watched it dissolve onto my workroom floor. fellow later told me it would have worked if i had painted the foam with latex paint to act as a barrier.
well, good luck

Now you need to fill that with a "SLOW" epoxy or you're going to have a bigger hole.

You learned your lesson. Now here's some advice. Draw a line along the inside edge of the fin fore and aft of the fin on the bottom of the board. Put a dot where the back of the fin is. Take out the fin box. Rout out a hole that gets rid of all the bad area eaten by the PE resin. Now cut a chunk of EPS foam to fit the routed area. You can stick this in with Sumo polyurethane glue (dries white), or some slow kick epoxy with cabosil. After it sets, sand flat flush with the bottom of your board. Now use your lines to rout out for the replacement box, glass over when that sets, fill coat, then sand flat. Add more resin if you want a smoother finish.

I hope you're not planning on using resin + filler to fill that sucker.
The way I'd handle it is to rout out the bad stuff, cut an insert of fresh foam to fit and use Gorilla Glue or Sumo to glue it in, shape it to fit the board and then reglass over it. Then install the new finbox over that. I'd seriously consider using a higher density EPS or PU foam for the repair.
P.S. EPS flakes into little beads when you cut or sand into it. It literally does look like styrofoam cooler foam. If you're looking you can't miss it. OTOH, XPS is a little more tricky.

I learned that lesson a very long time ago when I used a styrofoam cup to mix resin for a ding repair. After I mixed the batch I went to taping off the ding. I turned back to grab the resin and the cup had melted leaving resin dripping down the bench and onto the floor. First and last time I made that mistake. Like a few others said, cut it all out and repair with a plug of foam. Or take it to a pro and write it off as a lesson learned.
