Beautiful board Warren! Looks super fun and realy functional. This thread is a great example why I love and hate this forum. So great to see boards like this pop up but at the same time I'm so bummed I did'nt hear of JC version a few months earlier.
But I'm pretty sure the 6'4 Mabile whitepony I finaly decided on will work ok. But next board will be one of these, the 7'2 looks perfect for most of the waves we get.

E-Bull - pretty much have the same thoughts on the forum daily; seen the Mabile whitepony and its looks great, I'd love to have Mabile shape me a board someday
yeah, was slightly hesitant on the 7'2 length JC recommended, but have come to completely understand that this board could very well be a one board quiver for my location... was telling JC we get lots of waist to rib high days here locally (what I call 2-3 ft faces) that are super glassy and plenty fun on the right board and i think this board will cover those days with abandon so to speak, and then the 4-6 ft faces too.. gonna be nutso on this board imo here in Jax FL... have a longboard on layaway and I have already paid over 50% cost and am hoping this JC board does not wipe out my motivation to want that longboard... but hey, its FL, we need longboards here, I for one miss my longboard, just thinking I really should have let JC make one for me though, oh well, so goes it... there's always another board in the works in my head, possibly several

Everyone needs a longboard in their quiver, thats why I had my freind shape me the "hessian" which i posted some shot sof a few weeks ago. Then again there isn't a longboard on the market that has a wide square tail like these simmons boards. JC versions are a bit pulled in but still I bet you can get in as early and with more speed of the bat than any longboard with that 7´2.
After seeing this thread I started to wait for the right moment to ask Matti to shape me one , and we even haven't given the hessian it's final sanded finish(surfs great anyway). Was initially thinking of going with Larrys version of a minisimmons but all the reports of having to grab rail to bank them and other minisimmons made me go whit the whitepony. JC seems to have solved this issue with his refinements.

your hessian is big time, I like it..superglider I have spoken at length thru this entire process with JC almost daily, or at least as often as he emails me first.. don't want to be a pain in his azz I mentioned something along the lines of "this board is great blend of flow, trim, and ability for quick direction changes"... he assured me that was an exactly correct description pumped!

i guess it would be pronounced "nick fee ous"
i'm really curious about how your board rides with the keels and a trailer fin. i've had mine out for 3 session in various conditions (long pointbreak, walled slopey reforms, and fast bowly beachbreak) and it worked great each session. my other boards are going to collect dust for a while. i think you've got yourself a quiver killer there. i really like the look of jc's three fin version with the diamond tail. that will give you a big sweetspot where mine doesn't work so well if i'm in front of the fins. but at 5'5 mines pretty easy to plant it right on the tail.
i've got these board outlines in my mind with a 3 fin setup that i think would work really well with this design. something curvier than what the hydrodynamica guys are doing. i could tell that ryan already had some ideas for the next one.

The fins, their positions, foil etc are a collaboration between JC and Rich Pavel
I just cant see myself on what others consider normal lengths for this kind of design 5'2 to say 5'10... my mind refuses to risk it, so I went with what JC recommended and know its going to be have long admired Ryan's skils... for a younger guy thats only been shaping for ______ yrs, I know its not that many, his boards are super impressive even on the Internet... his stuff he's doing at Timberline is just

I milled your center stringer today and cut and glued the nose rocker. I selected and resawed the Macassar ebony for your fin set. When the ebony is glassed it will be much darker with a few less-dark highlights. The mid tones will be like a roasted coffee bean and the darker areas, especially the darkest streaks will be black. It should look killer on the white board with the black pinlines between the white opaque and the balsa stringer. Aloha, JC
first update received today from Mr. Cherry. I figured I already have this build thread started from my first Simm-21, and this is a redux of the Simm-21, so off we go....
The inspiration for what I asked of John here:
However, mine will be opaque white resin tint with same stringer with some black pinline work and a chevron pattern on the fin set.. looking forward to posting the fin photos, I have had this black and white theme in my head for a really long time, years actually, and I am honored to have John Cherry bring my aesthetic ideas to life...gonna be fun to watch this one unfold Going with volan on this one, have never done volan.
This board destroys east coast small days and handles as big as we get and has a trim like no other, and is faster than anything I have ridden with all the surface area once up on the wave face, a truly great design imo
Enjoy the ride.

Just finished your glue-up...here’s a bunch of photos. Remember as you look at these that this is an 8-4 blank that your 7-2 is coming out of. So you are looking at a little extra wood on each end. This thing is going to be KILLER. The stringer weighed nothing….before I chambered it. Nice and light but super sturdy.

I enjoy watching the progression of a board being made. I do not ask John to take these photos, it's simply the way he operates and I dig it, so I share them with you.
Shaped blank is next, then fin set hopefully my shaper provided movies do not offend thee. You can always change the channel.

....have fun with making that happen! My experience is you need to stay clear of your wife or you'll magically have a baby sister or brother for your firstborn real quick holding your first baby for the first is gonna blow your mind, I mean like kindofablown... and once you get over the fear of holding your firstborn then it all just turns to one giant ...then there's the adjustment period..which usually lasts about 4 years... I'm just playin', but get ready for the hardest thing you've ever done to start.
so I wake up this morning and a new swell has arrived... of course its Memorial Day weekend... gulping my coffee, packing my boards...time to go find an uncrowded spot
not to get off track, so here's some fin photos for ya'

The blue template is actually on the plastic shapers square. I will run these through the thickness sander, get them super clean, then template and foil them.

the chevron pattern, using the white holly.....The finset shows the two lead fins together with double-sided tape, ready to foil. The faint white lines on the twin keels are simply landmarks I use during the first stages of foiling.
and on Gliders... 7'0, 8'0, and the 9'0 Pelican... this is John's brother...can you imagine having JC as your brother..ohhhh the board porn you would have access to JC calls this longer Simm-21 the Pelican due its glide and ride qualities black resin tint... amazing

time to go surfy.

yes and yes I love the army corps of engineers.. if you're from FL, they've hooked us up in certain locations this is a public park that is very well known in front of the naval station I have surfed a lot of places in FL, but this spot qualifies as one of the best despite it being a public parking lot spot...IMO what's not to love about that wave? it's near perfect. I surfed here today from 11 AM to 230pm and it was not even a zoo.. little wind got on it, but easy a-frames on the sets at 4 to 5 ft east coast scale...chest to head+ lots of fun had today..epic day..why we are alive, days like today. ok...maybe thats the 3 ipa's I'm down on right now.

I liked your finished dynaglide, nice color choice just waking up surf is bigger today, storm moving closer, eventually today will be it once the wind turns side to on-shore, hopefully we will have more clean up session on the other side as well funny, but May here in FL can be glass flat or it can pump, seems we're on the pump side of things this year so far making coffee, getting in mi coche to go check it in a few mins good times

Warren, The board is beautiful in these photos.....But it's insanely cool in person, especially when you stand back at a 3/4 angle and see the black and white fins that tie this whole thing together. The white is so clean and crisp and bright.
Michaels glass job, opaque panels and pinlines are flawless, very critical for this black and white motif. And it really compliments via contrast the beautiful, fat, chambered balsa stringer.
It is glossed but not rubbed out and polished in these photos. I already know that Alfredo will do the perfect job on that end.
Jesus, WHAT A BOARD!!!!
It was truly an inspired vision you had for this one. I think we pulled it off 100%.
I will grab it and get it packed as soon as it is rubbed out.
