Last report. I've surfed this board 6 days in a row from chest high to knee high. I freaking love it! So addicted. Exactly what I needed for summer. For the first time ever I'm going to the beach, looking at subpar conditions and thinking YEEEEESSSSS! It's going to be a fun session thanks to this little board. My only complaint is that it had futures installed by mistake but I can live with it.

It feels more hp. It's not cumbersome or over volumed like a minisim. This has good volume but it's completely submerged when I'm paddling. It paddles good, as good as you'd expect from a short wide board. The pulled in nose helps there. It doesn't feel like it pushes water. It gets into waves real easy and it surfs somewhat like a regular shorty. It likes to be on rail and it goes through flats or reform sections with very little effort. Just a litttle rail to rail movement and you have all the speed you could want and then some. It doesnt just glide effortlessly like a ghostbuster or sim. That's where I feel it's more like a shortboard.

No I haven't tried a fw sp but I've looked at those quite a bit before ordering this. I think they are very similar. The rails of the fw are a tad fuller but I would think they surf similar
Yep extremely satisfied with this board. This and the megamind have really opened my eyes to making crappy waves really fun while keeping a somewhat hp feel.

FWIW - I contacted DM about one of these boards and he is not taking orders (edit: not taking orders at this time). He suggested I get a sweet potato.

Nk, how would you compare the Megamind and the Chum Lee? MM a little more HP?

Tough one. Theyre both hp. The mm has a lot of built in glide to it. You can just trim it with little imput. But you can rip the snot out of a small wave.

Fyi...if you're ever out in larger waves and the controllers are feeling too loose off the tail in turns, I've used stretch rears today in 3-4" point waves teamed with Indo fins fcs tabbed controller copies and they felt amazing. I'd hazard to say most rakier rear quads would feel really positive as well.

Just some added thoughts, Nk made that board look like he was riding a skate in a mini bowl and owning it. It seemed HP as HP gets for a small wave board.
I wished I would have tried that thing last time we were out.
As for the MM. Its true, its almost effortless to ride. But he mentioned a good point with the boards. If you wanna get jiggy with it, you really have to push it to unlock some of the magic.
And also like any board, you gotta dial them fins. If tuned correctly, I have no doubt that thing could handle much larger surf.
Rad board!

That's weird. Wonder if FW and he had an agreement to not make them as long as FW makes the SP. Interesting

Strangely enough I don't begrudge shapers not needing to handshape 1000.s of the same board in 2" incremental steps for distribution to faceless surfers all over the globe. I wonder if he's actually going surfing more rather than mowing foam all day? Back in the day I thought a lot about work in the surfing industry but saw how little time, those I knew who were, actually spent out surfing. Catch 22 and surf vicariously through talking to customers.

An apt idiom for all the surf clothing company owners to ponder when they go surfing with the crowds they created with their marketing to the masses. Don't forget to put that one on the order form for your next Lost (with a concise explanation of its relevance) to show Biolas your moral high ground and the perils of his associations.
