I picked up an OTR Cyber 4/3 during their recent sale. It's super flexible, light and feels thin - to the point where I've said to myself "I'm going to freeze" as I walk to the beach. No freezing. Super comfortable. With all the wind we've had lately today was an ice cream headache day. Never felt cold and it never felt like the cold was creeping up on me like regular neoprene.

Thanks for the advice guys, I ended picking up a 3/2 Superfreak on sale at a killer price. Its ridiculously light and mad stretchy. It feels really reaally good. After wearing 4/3 chest zip all winter..geting in and out of a 3/2 is a breeze. So perfect for this water temp we're having in socal.
anyone using the isurus 2mil short arm full? saw some today and they looked nice and warm. noticed a lot of manufacturers aren't doing a gasket on the short arm full suits so the necks will leak. o'neill gooru has a gasket for example but patagonia and ripcurl and also quik do not for the back zips. the xcel short arm fulls feel like 1mm compared to everyone elses 2mm.

That's why I love mine. Feels like you're wearing nada
yeah, I suppose thats why it works better than a jacket and trunks. more warmth but very flexible. I was looking for something that was a bit warmer for early morning cloudy dawnpatrols or days when there's some upwelling. The isusurus felt way thicker than all the other suits but I;ve heard that they leak, flush, and arent very warm.

Update on the 3/2 SuperFreak, super light. Dries pretty darn fast. Extremely flexy. 3 mill areas also feel "unlike" 3 mil. Soo easy to get in/out of. Warmth seems almost perfect... perfect summer suit. screaming deal on it...
scored!

I sent my XCEL 5/4 hooded Infinity Drylock back in a week ago for it's second repair since I bought it in August. First return back in March was 8 days turnaround but the seams they repaired started leaking again after a month so I sent it in again. This time they sent me an email that it was being replaced due to a manufacturing defect and they're sending me a new suit.
Not super happy about the durability (7 months til first repair averaging 3 sessions a week) but the warranty experience with XCEL has been great (and a MT fits me perfectly...just hard to get off).
When I first sent the XCEL in I bought a hooded Buell 4/3 (when they had the March $275 sale going on). It's great and unlike any other hooded suit I've had, hardly flushes when you don't have the hood on. Softest/most flexible suit I've had and it looks perfect after 2 1/2 months of being my main suit. Time will tell...
so nobody using the isurusus suits? how's about the matuse short arm fulls? I had one 3 years ago and it was a great suit but didn't have a flushguard. The new ones have em'. So are they still durable? Or did that same seam problem manifest itself in the 2011/2012 model year? Howz their warranty?
was gonna pull the trigger on a patagonia r1 ss full but it doesn't have the gasket like the rest of their fullsuits.

Quote: you don't need a gasket on a SS Full. If the water's warm enough for one of those suits some flush feels good
I disagree. I had a ss matuse 1st gen w/o the gasket and it flushed like crazy. I remember being really cold that summer during my dawn patrols. The new ones have the gasket. If it's the case that I'm still warm when my short arm full flushes, I'd rather be in boardshorts.
I think I'm just gonna get another season out of my xcel xzip ss full. save money for other stuff like beer and strippers
btw ifallalot, you're from santa cruz = polar bear, so you have no right to an opinion on the wetsuit thread

For me, having skin exposed is far more of a factor of getting cold then dealing with leaks/flushing. My Xcel rarely flushes though. I think they just fit me right.

yeah, good call. skin cancer and sun aging is a huge issue. straight up gnarlies since our ozone is depleted.

Well I got my replacement 5/4 hooded Drylock in the mail from XCEL under warranty. It is much stretchier/softer than the last generation.
My last one, same size, was stiff and noticeably restrictive paddling the first 3 or 4 sessions...like I was getting pumped just fighting it in flatwater even though it seemed to fit right. That suit ended up being fine til the seams kept blowing out but after the 2nd warranty return they replaced it.
The new one, honestly I had to check the invoice to make sure they didn't send me a 4/3 instead. Very easy movement in this one, a little easier to get on, and perfect new suit performance. We'll see if the seams last longer than 7 months though...

tactics has some pretty good deals on suits right now plus another 15% off any sale item until the 4th.
ordered my first o'neill in like ten years, the psycho rg8 5.5/4. hoping the o'neill suits fit my tall frame a little better.
I also picked up another backup pair of the cypher 7.5mil booties on sale. stoked on my first pair even though I had to shorten the strap so it cinched down better on my feet.
cypher 6/5/4 ds hydrolock is hanging in there just fine. toasty warm, pretty flexible, doesn't flush through the zip, heavy as hell, stinky, takes about a week to dry. really reminds me of an xcel, even the fit.
got some rip curl flash bomb 3mil gloves about 4 months ago. the lining really does dry out quickly which is nice because putting on wet gloves is a pain. the gloves are basically on their way out after four months. worn through the gummy neoprene on the thumbs and fingers. seams are holding but showing signs of failure. I'd buy these again if they were cheap but they're not. I'll just keep looking I guess.

gonna get a long sleeve spring suit. what's better: xcel xzip2 or the ripcurl ebomb pro? was also looking at a hipster matuse l/s spring but they're pricey and too many stories of splitting seams and blown out zippers after only a few uses.

bought an 3/2 front zip fullsuit ebomb pro at the rip curl warehouse sale last month. the pro line runs THIN or maybe i'm use to suits with an inside lining. and not much taped seams. it's not that warm. for a spring will that matter for ya

I have the matuse long arm short leg. The key pocket has lost its threading and there are a few threads coming off the legs - but i wore it three times a week over Spring and Summer last season and i'll get another season out of her. Love the feel of the neoprene they use! Had a quicksilver....lasted half a season.
My Matuse short-sleeve full is going strong on it's 3rd year now. Love that thing...super comfy, has held up well with heavy use, and dries super quick. The 4/3/2 full has gotten me through 2 full years with one trip back to the factory for warrantied repairs. Although the original '08 full fell apart quickly, these two have been great suits!
4/3 Quik Syncro was great through this whole past winter with no signs of wear issues yet. Super cheap and I've been very happy with it too!

so does matuse still use hipster sizing? I used to wear a LS in theirs and it was still short in the legs on a ss full. I wear medium in patagonia, xcel. all those suits fit well except too tight in the crotch (common problem for me in most suits). what size would I be in the current matuse?
