first off thanks to all who attended
it was good putting some faces to you guys.super stoked on some fresh faces this year, ryan l. i kept meaning to introduce myself but got pulled in many directions, your boards looked great. there was even an r.k. siting, thanks for bringing your boards, people were stoked
apparently the ab3 has made its mark as now the "man" has us on his radar.
a special thanks to all the board builders for showin up and making this years ab3 something really cool ,as well as my partners in crime ian and tony basswave. and jjr and his much better half for firing up the Q. if you did'nt make it there were some really bad ass boards on the beach aty cardiff that day!
johnny law screwed up our schedule a bit so the group photo and balloting plans were altered a bit , but i guess it aint a party til the cops show up right?!
so here is the board voted "best in show" a 6 foot red cedar fish built by bob and rick of Mitzven surfboards. this one was unanimous, what a killer board, and bob and rick are both great guys. keep holding it down in s.d. boys
Shawn the specs on our cedar fish are 6 foot x21 x2 3/4.Made from 14 2x6x7foot western red cedar boards.Solid shape was 31 pounds we chambered it to 11 pounds and with glassing its 14.5 pounds single 4 oz top and bottom. Thanks for having this great event. It was a killer event and we were stoked to be part of it.
Thanks again - Rick and Bob

I know bassy took some good ones of this board and am hoping he'll put em here
any of you guys have some good ones of this board? being surfed maybe? lets see em
btw more award photos to come -- and thanks to chris and ICE9 for donating blanks so these killer craftsman can do more of what they do best - build more boards!

I put the first vote in for that board, and then i was the first person to ride it, I was parked next to the Mitzven guys and had taken off my wetsuit after riding a few boards and I was talking to them about how they made it and I picked it up and they told me how many man hours it took to build it and that I should take it out. So I grabbed my wetsuit, put it back on and took the board for a spin. Got about five waves on it and was stoked at how well it turned for how heavy it was. Paddled well and maintained its momentum really well. Wish I could have ridden it at a point break.
that board is worth more than 1/2 of the cars i've owned

Forget best in show, I want to know who won the middleweight aqua-combat bout.

Word on the street is that Ian Slice has begun training for his next match.
