2009 Sandy Beach Bodysurfing Championship - Video

Little video shot by my friend Captain Ben Mercier. It's cool to see small, tiny, little Sandy's from a bunch of neato angles.

I bombed out in my first-round handboard heat, but finished third in my age group in the bodysurfing competition. Lots of fun and plenty of old and young legends making the most of the meager waves. Big thanks to the Thomas ohana, who've been putting this thing on for years for nothing but the love of the sport.

By the way, 2:30 in you can see someone trying to complete a belly spin, but it cuts away before we see if he makes it.

This haole is sunburnt, but in the morning I will eat my cereal out of my koa bowl.

That was one of the best bodysurfers I have ever seen. So fluid, so fast, and so much better than even your good body surfer out there.
