      #1631771 - 07/19/09 08:41 PM

Baby Paul Cullen, Z Boy, skater, surfer, father, friend, son, and brother, has passed on. This one fvcking hurts. RIP PC. Thanks for what you did for me.

He overdosed on heroin last night. Leaves behind a daughter, and a big family. R.I.P., wherever you are, you fvcking dick.

This fvcking sucks. I was watching the z-boy doc last night while he was probably ending his life. Why anyone would even want to consider trying heroin is beyond me.

Even though I didn't know Paul, it was still very sad to see the pictures of him going from a goofy, stoked grom with buck teeth to an adult with a serious drug problem.

Growing up in Pacific Beach / Mission, I had so many friends go down from Drugs. I always just stuck to Skateboarding and surfing which kept me on the right path. I guess I always just wanted to wake up and be able to ride to the best of my abilities instead of being all hung over or coming down. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for many of my skate/surf friends.

May you find more peace in the next chapter, Paul.

What timeframe in PB/MB? That's where I (mis)spent my youth.

Hey B5,
Paul Cullen is my uncle. Please don't post that he died of a herion overdose when it's not known yet how he died. We should not be remembering him for how he died reguardless of the way in which it happened. We should be remembering him for how he lived. He should be remembered for being an awesome skater/surfer and a really kind and loving guy who was awesome just to be around. Enough negativity.

Hey PhatCruiser,

My mom and I moved there in jr. high and I lived there until I moved away to college in S.B. so It was from about 1985 till around 92.

I mostly hung out with all the Pacific Drive skate/surf shop kids, who were pretty much my only good friends. Good times for sure. It so weird to go back there now, as I just have so many memories associated with the area, with what was the most formative years of my life.

PM sent. No negativity? Hard to be positive when you're dealing with drugs, and no matter how he died, he did drugs. That was my message. There is no way around it. Drugs kill.
Your Uncle was a really great guy with a really deadly problem. Perhaps in death he may help one with life. R.I.P. Paul, and good vibes for the family and friends.

I was there during some of that time but working like a dog to buy my first home. Moved away to buy said home in 88.

Spent a lot of time surfing PB Drive and hanging out at PB Surf shop in the early to mid-70s. Had some friends that skated for G&S that would get me discount gear from the shop. Got my first Fibre-Flex with Road Riders there.
