Actually wasn't sold on the new logo in pics before getting this one. Now I think I like it better than the old one. Looks sweet in person. All waxed up and ready to go! Forgot to mention, the board feels LIGHT....surprisingly so, which is a great thing for me.

It'll either be the SF or WB tomorrow. Going to try the BKQ fins first, then the keels later. Don't know if it's whiter or not, but pretty friggen white.

great looking fish oceanslide; a friend of mine from S FL has a springfish and a hp coil and that's it, he says perfect two board quiver, says the springfish is a longboard killer for him...and I have heard more than one coil owner say the springfish is capable of surfing plenty big surf as well
great to see Coil, MD and Brasington (sp) bros bring some of the spotlight back to Melbourne FL on board building
I have only personally seen a few of these boards, but for those who have not, when you do, the boards and their high quality build are immediately noticeable, unlike anything I have ever seen

Well, I bought it hoping it will be a great summertime small-wave board, and was stoked on the fact that it felt REALLY, REALLY good this morning in head-high+ waves that were standing up. It's early to say, but I think I'm going to LOVE this board. Had paddled out early on the Widerboard and the section of beach I was on just was not doing it...sorta fat and wonky. Ran in and grabbed the Springfish to battle the mush and ran into a few friends who ended up walking up the beach a ways. Night and day...the waves were bigger, cleaner, and standing up nicely. Figured I made a bad choice swapping boards, but had to try the SF out. Noticed right away while paddling out that Mike nailed the volume with this one. Felt great and paddled well through lots of whitewater getting out and all around the lineup. From the first wave I caught (about head-high), I noticed the board gets into waves really early allowing me to negotiate a pretty steep drop...then it just took off like a skateboard on a steep hill! Super skatey and playful feeling, held well off the bottom, feels really responsive and nimble through turns. Me likey! Got a bunch more waves from waist to overhead and it was a really good first session for the board. Can't wait to try it out in all kinds of conditions. Definately obvious this board is a damn winner already. Thanks Mike and crew!

So O-slide are you gonna clear out your quiver to ride only Coils? I gotta start saving my $$$ cause I will get one. Not sure if I should try the Springfish or the Flashback fish... I want one of those taco's!

Not going to be doing any fire sales like a couple others on here ....like my Shadow too much and have another Von Sol on the way. But, I definately see this SF being used a lot and will most likely order more Coils in the future. Really good boards/shapes AND the durability is rediculous to boot. They have their act together, for sure.

Would that town surfer be willing to let a brotha try um? I've exhausted my board fund, but the coil looks like it is definitely next on my list. Hoping to make it my Christmas present.

I had my new 5'8 x 19 3/4 x 2 5/8 Flashback fish out for it's first sesh today in some punchy waist+ east coast beachbreak. Initial impressions: paddles into waves really easily, I was little nervous since it seems so thin and foiled out. The board is really, really fast. I am riding it as a quad with Curtis 4wd quad set (4 1/2 fronts, 3 1/2 rears).
I only got a handful of fun waves before the wind cranked up hard sideshore and blew everything to crap. Looking forward to sesh #2 in hopefully better conditions.

Fusion 5 fin.
I knew a tiny bit about coil technology via Tom Neilson, our local shop here (Folly Beach SC) briefly carried Neilson's boards 2 or 3 years ago.
But...two weeks ago the shop got in it's first shipment of new coils (nothing to do with Neilson, these are the "alien technology" ones)...and I was pretty blown away. The shop staff got a 5'10 FB fish to demo and were raving about it. I had $600 in credit so decided to give the 5'8 a whirl (after reading the 8 pages here and the 28 pages over on swaylocks).
The boards here are running $550, which is $50 less than I would pay for clear Lost RNFQ (which I was planning on getting with my $600)...and will no doubt hold up much better.

The shop is actually Mckevlin's in Folly Beach SC, here's their blog with the Coil post
http://mckevlins.blogspot.com/2010/06/alien-technology.html
They got a few boards in, a HP thruster and maybe 2 M80s.
All Mike Daniels shaped.
I would pay more and wait longer to surf this board in some real waves. East Coast sucks.
Love that post in the General section about Charleston SC being one of the top 5 cities in the country...no doubt judged by some annoying foodie/hipster-types who do not surf and never come in the summer when the high temp is 95 and the low is 80...it's been that way all month.
But stoked on my Coil!

The mothership dropped off a taco in San Diego -
FB Fish: 6'0" x 20 1/4" x 2 7/16" = .93 vol.
I'm 6'1, 175 lbs, and plan to use this as a small wave ripper.
I had it delivered to Hansen's surf shop as I wasn't sure if I would be in town. It was funny watching the small crowd gather as it was being unwrapped. Everyone was digging the nicely foiled rails. It feels good. I love the shape and you can tell it's a high quality, hand crafted board.
I'll follow up with a ride report after I get some time in the water.

That thing looks rad! The WB will be put through it's paces in warm water barrels over the next week. Will report back after the 7th.

I'm looking forward to the WB report, Joey!
Warm water barrels!
Here are a few other pics of the FB Fish. The shot from the tail really shows you how foiled down it gets. It should be fun to play with that flex. The deck is also a lot flatter than what I'm used to, but again... it's all about maintaining flex.
I also opted for the 5-fin box. For now, I'm running Stretch fins in a tri setup... but I'd like to see how it handles as a quad as well as a twin (MR 78's).
Good times!

How much do they end up costing by the time you get it home? Similar to a locally shaped EPS board like in the $550 to $700 range + the shipping cost?
PM me if you don't want to make it public

You might want to find a buddy to put an order in with... That way you might save a little on shipping costs... Check with Coil..
I put an order in for a Springfish a couple weeks ago... If what I am seeing and hearing is true there might be a nice school of fish for sale in the classifieds soon.

stock = bump squash , single to vee off the back fin.
I'll have to get those details from Mike. I was trying to modify the WB to be my more user friendly/versatile step up will still have the low entry with enough flip to handle larger, hollow waves round pin with 5 fin boxes Subtle triple concave (I had some concerns about single on a board wider than 19") with a relatively hard edge rail increased the volume about 15% about 1.38ft³
