I picked this up from a fellow erBB'r a few days ago. I bought it after hearing such great things about them and jumped at the opportunity to pick up a used one in my size. I rode it yesterday at a beach break and the conditions were semi clean about 2-3. First wave I got I couldn't believe how much speed I was able to generate on such a dismal wave. The waves were pretty terrible and I was having a blast. I have ridden and owned my fair share of fish's or similar boards. I have owned, fischuit, biscuit, pod and ridden a few traditional keel twins shaped by Larry Mabile. I can honestly say that I like this one the best. After one session I can see what all the hype is about with these boards. I'm a big guy at 6'5 and 215 and the one I picked up is 5'11, (guessing on the rest since it's not written on stringer) 21.5, 2 7/8 ish
The board picks up speed off anything and will fly through the flats. I caught one ankle high wave and managed to connect across the flats to the same wave but almost at another peak. The board is also very responsive and can be thrown around without sliding out. All in all, I'm very happy with the board and can tell that it will be unreal in a point break. It maintains all the aspects of a traditional keel fish while offering more of a performance option if you desire. I highly recommend them and urge anyone that is in the market to go demo one. Welcome to the club. I've been surfing a loooooong time. The Zippi is the the best kept "secret" in surfing. Check out my post "Zippi De Do Da". Also, Zippi has a new blog for you to post your positive feedback!

Thanks, I saw that. I just became a fan on FB too. I wish I would've found this board earlier.

Great review Tim. Those boards make you horny for more surf. They are so fun to ride and without any real limitations, you just want ONE MORE wave! I'm definitely gonna need another one(just like YOURS) in my quiver soon! Vic
p.s. This is like the review I intended to write for WarrenC about 6 months ago. Sorry about that. Warren you just need to get a Zippi a.s.a.p. , if you haven't already.

Considering your height and weight vs board size -how did it float you and how was it to paddle. I really gotta get one but i live in Oregon and NO ONE has heard of them up here. If anyone has one to sell let me know.

It floated me great. Paddled into waves with no problems at all. I opted to sell it instead of the 6'2" x 21" x 2.75" Lost round nose fish w/ 5 fin set up I currently riding. I've been having fun playing with all the fin options because I've never had a board with that feature. The Zippi dims I believe are actually closer to 5'11" x 21 7/8" x 2 7/8" , and felt close to the Lost in paddling, catching waves, etc...
But the Zippi has more drive and down the line speed by far. And made sections that I haven't really gotten even close to on the Lost, with any fin set up. But the Lost seems to get more vertical front side for me. Back side they're both great.
Tim, sorry about the HIGH-Jacked thread. I obviously loved that board and am glad it has a great new home...I'll get another when I can- for sure

Vic, no worries. Glad you chimed in to update the dims. The board is a wave catching machine. I was able to catch waves I would never dream of catching on my other boards. It floated me very well and felt perfect. It's short enough to toss around and has enough volume to catch whatever I want. If I were to order one tomorrow it would be the exact same dimensions as this one.

I think it's WAY too big. A Zippi that size wouldn't perform like a Zippi imo. Just me though.
I had a 5'8" EPS and a 5'7" Poly and both felt significantly too big for me at 5'10" and 170.

second that. mine is 5'8" x 21 5/8" x 2 3/4" and it feels like a boat. these boards pack a lot of foam.

Is that the one at Stewart in San Clemente ?
It sounds a bit big for you. You will for sure be catching waves, but might be losing out on the performance side of the Zippi. It's all personal preference I guess.

I'm 55 and ride a 6' Zippi. Could easily go 5'10, but I like the extra float and paddle power. If you're in decent shape, you can easily ride these boards under 6'. Anything over 6'2" kind of defeats the purpose of a fast and snappy down the line fish.

Dumlocal- man I been emailing pics of your Zippi to my friends. Everyone drools over it.
How tall are you?
I'm 5'11 weigh 190 and am in good shape. I live in Oregon so trying a Zippi out isn't gonna happen. So I am trying to figure out what size to get.
Are these poly or epoxy?

Hey Ratzax, you really should give Zippi a call. I've called him w/ questions and for advice...he is really helpful and honestly tries to point you in the right direction. He doesn't just simply try to sell you a board.

5'11" 180. Zippifish1 knows his Zippi's. Like he posted, I recommend you go on the blog, get info and go ahead and call Michael Zippi directly- he'll be very helpful. Poly or EPS (although he will tell you he prefers the poly in the Standard model for extra glide).
