I actually liked the deathstar quite a bit but the tail looked too dangerous. I like the v4 tail so it was a no brainer. maybe a nano tail for my next one.
interesting logic lol I am also looking at the deathstar and like it. But the tail of the vanguard seems more user-friendly/ less radical.
my friend got a pysko on our last order. it goes really well but the tail were dinged a few times by the airline crew during our last trip to hainan
ugghhh, that's gotta hurt. especially how complex that tail is. I will place an order for a v4 pointy nose as well next month. 5'10x19.38x2.44 xtr stringered 7.c

Picked up my V4 at Justin's the other day and saw a few gems that are ready to be shipped.
There is some good stuff coming out of that shaping/design house.
Got to feel up those next gens, what a fuggin' trip. Would love to demo one.
Cant even wait for a juicy swell to put it thru her paces. The bottom contours are so choice

Since the Slayer seem to be forgotten I'll try to refresh everyone with my initial feedback/pic. Maiden voyage this morning in 3-4' point break. 5'7"x18.5x2.25 with YU's as truster. Only took about 5-6 waves but found it extremely easy getting into waves. Every drop felt terrific and it was fun and fast in the pocket but a little harder (likely archer not arrow) to maintain speed (compared to wider fish/hybrids) once the wave fattens. Might try it as a quad next time. I think due to the more pulled-in tail, this board will definitely shine at a bowlier wave. I couldn't wait to try it out today and I'm very happy with it. Curious to see how it compares to a MiniDriver hopefully soon.

First sesh on the Nano. Rode the 2.1's. Waves chest to head with some overhead sets. Fins felt great on the smaller waves but felt like I didn't have enough on the bigger waves. Never slid out but felt like I had to hold back a little so I wouldn't.
One thing I will say is: Speeeeeed! That and the feeling like there's barely a board under you is pretty sick when it's working well. Gonna love to get used to this thing.

Yeah GKL68 just made it way too easy.
I know I could scroll through but what are the bigger guys running for tri setups?
Oh and good grief. First session and I had a guy stop me in the parking lot to ask questions, then one of the regulars sees me and says "Dude, you got a Tomo"!!!!!

I mix it up a bit with quads but as a tri fin (what I surf the majority of the time) is the h3 with a custom trailer that's smaller than a k2.1 trailer. I had the same problem as you, I like the k2.1 but I wanted bigger side fins and that's what brought me to the h3 large template. I looked like a bigger version of the k2.1. If there's a better tri fin setup for the nano I haven't found it and I've tried a bunch of fins with that board.

SBD I'm not a big guy (160-165lbs) but felt a bit of the drift you described on your first sesh. My go to fins in ALL of my Tomos now is the Mick Fanning template. A slightly bigger fin, but still has enough release if you are on rail and weren't "tracky" at all for me. I don't even bother going quad in any of my Tomos anymore as the MF-1 does everything I've wanted out of them. My 2cents, but def worth a try.

Thanks a ton guys.
Nick: Why custom trailer that's smaller than the 2.1? Isn't the 2.1 rear small enough?
I'll check out the dims on the Fanning fin, thank you!

It just happened to be a fin I tried that seemed to be the best with the h3s. It's a halcyon trailer made off a griffin quad trailer. Actually I put it up to the k2.1 trailer and while they look different, they have about the same area so maybe try the k2.1 trailer with bigger sides. Those h3s are hands down my favorite for that board. But in other boards of mine it's just good, not great

Thanks. Yeah I'll definitely try to get a demo set or borrow from someone. The medium set I demo'd for my 6'1" were very uninspiring.
But this is a different animal.

Yeah try the large. The h3 L trailer sucks. Yeah I know what you mean. The first time I tried the h3 with the nano the board was lively and almost too fast. But in a good way. Same session I went in and got my coil qualifier, put the fins in and they just went ok. Not bad, just ok. I feel like I have another gear though with the nano and those fins. I try to find some on demo and see

SBD, Here's the trailer. Maybe the tab placement is just right for me on this one this fin sits back more the the 2.1. I dunno, it works good.

3rd session on the Nano today. It goes
Sucks though. I took a super late drop and got bitch slapped in the back of the head by my board. 1.5" crack near the nose.
Anyone know how to fix it? Sand and solarez?

Was too lazy to change fins but should have. 2.1's would work I think if it was clean and waist to chest high. The head high bumpy open faces were not ideal. I threw in the Griffs for sides and kept the 2.1 rear. We'll see how that goes tomorrow.
Definitely having moments of zen mixed with moments of kookiness on this thing. I love the glide and how fast you can go but I'm getting used to riding something so short which has been a challenge on bumpy and late takeoffs at times. I've found myself getting bucked into a weird position for my feet. Could be the conditions though. Gonna keep at it.

The announcers will struggle trying to brush that under the carpet, hope he gets a post heat interview, be better than the normal 'what board you riding ' question.

"Yeah dude, I think that if he was on a pointy nose board with three fins he would have effectively blown that wave with a no style air much better."
