What videos don't show is that, on the left, you see the wave peeling off towards you for a long way, a quarter mile. Just peeling right at you, sort of charging at you. Like Padang Padang sort of. But the water is so clear, and the coral is so clearly visible as you're taking off, the effect is to just amp up the adrenaline as you're turning and paddling to get in. Long time in the tube. I've not surfed Desert Pt., which looks impossibly long at times, but this spot provides long tube rides... obviously. You're going to love it.

Nah, for all its charms, Nias is now sadly a ruined surf ghetto hosting crowds, violence, disease, drugs, prostitution and a long litany of checked boxes for despoiled paradise.
It is a very far cry from the Earthly idyll discovered by Kevin Lovett and Peter Troy back in 1975.
I go Wavepark!

Been twice. Stayed on the boats Aloeita and Mangalui. When there's swell it's fantastic. When there's not swell it's a bit frustrating, but still pretty cool. Something about getting onto that left that is nerve-racking.

Yep great set up, why would you be nervous after all the bombs you enticed us with over the last week, piece of cake for our generational hero. so many left options you'll be exhausted on 6 hour a day sessions at more than one goofy foot heaven.
