Been traveling for one year, through Central America, Mexico, Australia, Indonesia. My trip has been a world tour of some of the more famous waves on the planet, like Pavones, Negra, Manzanillo, Punta Roca, Puerto, Kirra, Manly, Uluwatu, and Desert Point, to name a few.
Just wanted to share some of my stories to some reading surfers. It'd be cool to hear your thoughts.

pretty interesting thank you. Very interested in the logistic/operation side of a trip like this. How many boards did you carry/break/buy/etc? did you work during the trip or had some sort of funding? most difficult part of it? serious danger in the ocean (I read about ACL sprain...)? thanks!

I've gone through a lot of boards, at one point had a seven board quiver, just experimenting with different shapes to find what worked for me. Mostly I traveled with one or two boards. Lighter travel equals less expenses.
I saved up funds by working full time for almost two years. I've taken odd jobs throughout the trip: surf guide, surf shop worker, surf instructor, hostel worker. In Australia I got stuck on a farm for three months making 30AUD/hr.
I guess so much surfing took a toll on my body. Worn rotator cuffs, shoulder impingements, just from repetitive overuse. Desert Point was the only place where I really ate it, with the sprained ACL. Then sun too gets you, spending so much time in the ocean. My hair bleached out. I guess I learned to adapt to almost living in the ocean.
