Sup Utah, My brother and I drove down through central america and ended our trip in boca...awesome spot! Here's a few options: we stayed at this awesome hostel (keep in mind was 2005). It's in town, good feel, solid bar to hang at as well. The guys who started it are from Nor Cal and took great care of us. http://mondotaitu.com
Matt was just there for new years and got these following places to list their boca del torro listings on surfbreak. Here's 9 other options too: http://www.surfbreakrentals.com/regions/panama_caribbean
Besides catching a good swell, there's solid scuba diving and island exploring to be had. have fun!

Hey Bud -
I went to bocas about 5 years ago - heres the deal -
If you go wait till January - March - that is the prime swell season for that area - the water is warm and the waves can be really fun. The locals are super aggressive and will scream at you in the water, kind of like the local chicks in costa rica, the breaks in town which are Dumpers, Carinaro (i think thats how you spell it) and there is a mush right hander that our boat driver said gets fun called coco's , maybe, and then you have silver backs which is a big drop to short tube, this wave is kinda the "big wave" spot for this area. My suggestion is this, if you go get a few people together and get a good boat and driver that will take you out of town to some of the outer islands, I have heard all kinds of rumors of waves that nobody surfs in the outer islands. It will be totally worth it because if you go during the prime swell season you will have the waves all to yourself and a bunch of super angry locals that get totally pissed that they only get waves 3 months per year, + about 50 other euro tourists at each break, they dont pose much of a threat except you kinda gotta slalmon through them when racing down the line.
There is another wave in town but I cant remember the name. Its in between carnero and dumpers, its primarly a left somewhat barral that was fun, but again pretty crowded for how remote the area is. Overall it was a fun trip but not one that I would go out of my way to go to again, unless I had a boat that would take me away from the main islands in town to explore some of the outer areas that I have heard lots of good things about. Also remember the bulk of the waves will be short period stromy swell type waves in this area.

I've been there in 2008 and it was just OK IMO.
The thing that sucks is every time you want to surf, you have to pay the boat guy and it's pretty much $20 every time. So if you want to surf 2x a day = $40.

yeah if ur blonde and have an accent the boat guys would wanna rip u off. Do NOT let them. i pay $5 each way (which still sucks). For carenero u dont need a boat. U might wanna check out the azuero area, where playa venao is. the waves arent that good but the trips a lot shorter and the vibe is mellower. Or Santa Catalina

Thanks for all the info. Having trouble finding decent flights. That's a busy time. Probably just keep saving and hope to go to Indo next summer. Was just hoping for a quick trip. Hopefully it will be worth it to save more money and go for it! Thanks again everyone!
