Oahu in the height of contest season
      #2334657 - 06/25/12 04:57 PM

A friend of mine's getting married on Oahu, so I'm stoked that I can get a quick surf trip in while I'm at it. The only problem: the wedding's on November 10th, the Haleiwa comp starts on the 14th, so I'm going to be there right when every pro descends on the island. Am I screwed, or will I be able to find waves if I look for surf away from the A-list spots?

no. can get plenty of waves unless you're trying to surf Rockies and Pipe. was out there this past November had got some great surf. thanksgiving day was SOOOOOO much fun and only surfed with a handful of guys in the lineup.

Good to hear. I'll save Rockies for another time I guess. Looking forward to this (hence the post about a trip I'm taking 4+ months before I go.)
