Heading down to Nicaragua, with a connection in San Salvador. TACA allows 3 boards per bag, but from what I can tell the flight from San Salvador to Managua only allows one board per bag.
Anyone have any experience with this route, or just central american connections on TACA in general? Their website isn't entirely clear and I haven't been able to get a hold of them yet. Would suck to get to San Salvador and not be able to get my boardbag on the plane.
Thanks.

I've been that route to nica on taca and never had a problem with multiable boards in one bag.

3 is fine but 4 isnt and they checked when I flew. Had a new mgr and he wasnt budging until a call was made to a friend of a friend in the airline that already had our group bumped for first class. it was a pain in the ass and he wouldnt take cash in the beginning and one of my buddies is a trust fund kid and he had at least a couple c-notes in his palm. have fun

Just got back a couple of weeks ago. On the way home my friends were booked on one of the smaller "one board" planes between Managua and San Salvador. It's the 12:30 flight. They only had one board each but put two boards in one bag to try to save the $125. It worked. No one checked the bag. It was a slim bag though, not a coffin.
If you're on an Airbus, you have nothing to worry about. Those are on the early flight to Managua and the late afternoon flight on the return.

Only one flight, the flight from san salvador to managua is on an ATR, which is the plane they'll supposedly only take one board per bag on. All the other flights are airbus.
I'm only planning on taking 3 total, unless there's not much swell forecast, then I'll only be bringing two. So, sounds like I'll get by ok.
Thanks for the info everyone.

You 'll probably be ok. The gate agents in the U.S. aren't likely to know / care about the second leg of your flight.
BTW, if you're going to Playa Colorado, prepare yourself for the crowds.

Heading elsewhere, hopefully won't be as crowded.

I've done the SFO to MGA trip on Taca many times. I am always told only 2 boards per bag are allowed. They have checked numerous times. Be sure to get to the airport early. I also have had board bags and luggage delayed a few times, because of what they said was too much weight for the plane... Good luck!
