My girl might go on a job trip to OC in a couple of weeks. She want's to bring our son and me.. We get paid for everything, hotel, rental car etc, but have to stay in OC.. So here's the thing..im a bit doubtful if i should go.. I live and surf in Norway with virtualy no crowds so im not comfortable surfing with a huge crowd. It's normaly flat at home until september so that doesn't hold me back, but i probably only have a to-three hours everyday to go surfing since i have to baby sit our son.. Will i have to face super crowded smal beach break conditions if i go? Can i escape the crowds and get decent waves near by?

Unless you're willing to paddle out at the buttcrack of dawn you're going to have to deal with.crowds

Hey Dude -
I surf in and around OC all the time. There are several times I get fun surfs with not a lot of crowd. It all depends on what time of day you surf and what types of swells are running. If there is a little bit of combo wind / ground swell then you can get some decent waves without crowds if you know where to go.

Why would you not go? It's a chance to go out of the country for free and if you come to OC and face immense crowds, at least the water will be warm and there's a possibility of swell.
Seems kind of like a no brainer to me.

There's plenty of room around HB on even the most crowded days. I laugh every time I go and people whine about crowds. Wanna surf by the pier? Guess what, it'll be crowded. Meanwhile, 300 yards down it's open space. People have the worst "grass is greener" & sheeple vision at Socal beachbreaks. Not to mention the current during summer spreads things out.
Also what PPK said

Std's i can handle..Batteling for waves still makes me uncomfortable.. Anyways, im studying engineering and couldn't skip the first weeks of school, so i had to pass it up.. Was planning a short trip down to cabo also so i was kinda bummed.. But she's supposed to go to OC three or four times a year, and we're planning a trip in the beginning of june..couple of weeks in oc then head down to central america somwhere.. Sounds like a good plan?

Crowds aren't a problem. Don't focus on that too much. June should be fine. Plus, there is TONS of stuff to do in the OC beach area.
