We finally got the Clark Foam Planer back in stock. It was out of production for about a year but they're back now. Nothing mechanically has changed but there is a shiny metal green box the planers now come in. The planer is still being modified by the former Clark Foam engineer.
Here's a short description of the tool:
The mechanism that controls the cutting depth has been modified to make a full cut with only a quarter turn of the knob. The new features include a modified rear handle, two way pass clearance, precision depth adjustment mechanism (sealed), 20' cord, Exhaust Attachment, and improved sealed bearings for more power.
You can purchase the planer online at FoamEZ.com or feel free to call or email with questions or to place an order.
Thanks-

About $200...
Actually, someone could probably answer this better than me, but it seems like the largest difference is the depth of the cut. Most OTR planers will only go to a depth of like 1/16", which makes them borderline worthless for boards.

It's actually about $300 difference. The same planer in the store without the mods is about $100. The mods are what give it the ability to shape boards effectively and efficiently. On the one without mods, when you adjust depth you have to click it from one depth to the next. The mods not only give you a deeper cut, but also lets you smoothly turn the knob to adjust depth. It used to seem like it wouldn't matter, but after shaping a few boards and getting used to using a planer, I've realized that it's huge.

noice! I opened my plastic toolbox of goodies the other day. My clark/hitachi planer has rusted blades and my lokbox jig has mold all over it . There was a leak and I've got some scrubbing/cleaning to do and blades to replace.
