When the water starts to warm up when do you start to where boardshorts instead of your wetsuit. I just moved to fl and its about 66+ degrees in nfl I only have a 4/3 cause i used it year round in cen California Never really got much higher then the mid sixtys during a really warm summer. so i got by with 4/3s. But here its been about 70-80 degrees and the water is allready alot warmer then what im used to. And im burning up in the 4/3 what temps do you start shorting it in?

62 degree water when air temps are in high 70's low 80's like they have been, if air is still low 70s or lower at same water temp I wear short sleeve fullsuit 2mm or a 2mm short sleeve spring you should be burning up in a 4/3 get a long sleeve 1mm or 2mm top and you're hooked up.. water will be skinning it pretty soon

I'm usually in shorts in the mid to low 60's, agree though when the air is chillier I'll usually whip out a 1mm top or a shortarm full. Short arm full might be one of the best wetsuits in my opinion. Peace, Kyle

Why not just trunk it when it feels comfortable for you? There is no general rule when it comes to trunking temps....
But nonetheless, if it was in the 70-80s, I'd be out of the wetsuit. I would shed that thing as soon as I got the chance.

Rarely if ever in California. I can count on 1 hand the times that I've trunked it here. Even then I wore a 2mm rashy. The windchill kills me.

56? 20W, you're gnarly.
I'm a wimp. I don't trunk it until about 68. Spring suit at about 61, anything under that, it's a full suit for me.

Dude, in a month the water is going to be 80 degrees. You're in Florida, wear the rubber until the water is at least 75 degrees.

60 degrees is good, but I can go lower. There was one day last summer the air temp was upper 90s and water was fcking 53. IMO that was the worst combination of air and water temps ive ever dealt with.

It's trunkable now with a vest on you're good. Sat. beach was waist - chest & good fast fun waves all day lining up with the long period swell & full moon combo... if you're asking then you probably should be doing... trunking it that is
stay warm, shorten your sessions & save energy see you out their, I'll be at that Vero Pier yo all day Saturday too

Fatty with Sideburns is a freak of nature.
Or just loco in da head.
Probably both.
I've been out with fullsuit and booties and the mexican Elvis is in a vest and trunks. in January. I'll wear a fullsuit up to 65 degrees. Being old, a big pussy, and ruined from other shyt helps.

Right around 70...I was most comfy in a short sleeve full and could have dealt with a spring. I highly doubt Jax Beach's water will be 80 in a month. It's been very warm for March for a week now and the forecast coming up shows one day @ 81 and the rest below 75 with lows mostly in the low-mid 50s. The 41112 Fernandina nearshore shows 59 degrees http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41112 so once some swell churns longshore and the SW sideoff upwells a little I bet you'll see it back below 65.
The gulf stream's a rumor this far North but Chance if you skinned 58 degree Rincon on a bet you might as well trunk it or post a want to buy used springsuit ad or something on craigslist.

Easily some of my least favorite days around here. Usually combined with a dead or west wind so the flies are out. Too hot to not go in the water, waters too cold to cool off and escape the flies, sucks. Peace, Kyle

As much as I just want to take you up on it, I've been poaching from other BB'er posts. GWS was harvested for a while; this one's from IBG. Never had relations with a married woman/divorcee myself. Maybe if I do, I'll give her a pre-fellatio hint that I can't knock out teeth I don't know about.
In other news, it was quite foggy this morning at Mayport. I would have froze my blow job receiver off in trunks.

It depends on your tolerance level. I trunk it in Ventura County area from july through september. I still would see guys out in full-suits in mid August when the water temp would be somewhere around 70.

You guys are nuts. 70 degrees is the trunk limit. Unless I'm hanging out at the beach all day doing regular 30 minute (bodysurfing) sessions

I have a low tolerance for cold, but if the weather is warm enough I'm trunking it around 73-75 degrees.
Other than that I will wear a S/S full in 60-70 degree water, depending on air temp.

I'm first in and last out of the rubber. I really could care less what anyone thinks, I would rather not be cold. Besides, the water is over 70 degrees here from May until November. The biggest problem here is warm water with cold winds. When the offshores blow after a front passes (that's when there is surf} it can be brutal. I wear a 2mm top for wind and for dawn patrol in the late spring. A 1 mm might be the ticket in northern Florida

I wouldn't buy a wetsuit off craigslist unless it was still in the bag with the tags and reciept right there never worn. I can't think about sitting in some other guys pissed in suit for 5 hours 4-5 days a week.

I reckon it was about 50-52 F.
Nice biking weather once I warmed up.

We just had that teenager die from hypothermia/drowning up north of town last weekend.
Two out of town kids at a beach party up north decided to swim out to an offshore rock at 5:00 AM in their trunks. Air temp was 36 degrees, water temp was 51 degrees.
Only one of them made it back...
