WHAT: An exclusive sneak preview party for Castles in the Sky, a surf travel film and photo book by director Taylor Steele and 2009 Sony World Awards winner, photographer Dustin Humphrey. Castles in the Sky is from the creators of the critically acclaimed 2006 film and photo book, Sipping Jetstreams. The preview will consist of footage for the upcoming “travel through surf” project shot on location in Vietnam, Iceland, Peru, India and other global locations. Sipping Jetstreams will be screened following the sneak preview. Confirmed guests include surfing legend Kelly Slater, who appeared in Sipping Jetstreams and will appear in Castles in the Sky, as well as some of the biggest names in surfing. Additional celebrity and VIP guests are expected to attend and will be announced.

Pre-show entertainment provided by DJ Mathieu Schreyer (KCRW, Spacek Soundsystem). Photo exhibit, live music and Q&A. Cocktails provided by Jim Beam. Charity partner for the event: Jesse Billauer’s Life Rolls On Foundation.

Castles In The Sky is the sequel to the critically acclaimed film, Sipping Jetstreams, a surf travel documentary by director Taylor Steele and photographed by 2009 Sony World Awards winner, Dustin Humphrey. Steele and Humphrey decided to scrap the usual surf-travel strategy of “fly in, surf, fly out” in favor of true exploration of a culture - physical, spiritual, musical, and emotional. They gave up the “sure to score” mentality that had dominated surf travel for decades in favor of a more rhythmic journey into the heart of a place. Sipping Jetstreams was the result, with Castles in the Sky as the sequel to their vision.

About Dustin Humphrey

After a full decade as one of the world's most prominent surf photographers, he's seen more countries than he cares to list. More notably, he's pioneered explorations to coastlines never before documented in places like Iceland, Egypt and Tanzania. Beyond establishing himself as the sport's foremost travel photographer, Humphrey re-invented the genre by pulling away from the tight, logo-driven action to capture the moods of travel, the aesthetics of adventure and the rich cultural tapestries of the countries he explored.

His 2007 travel photography book, Sipping Jetstreams, won PDN's prestigious "Book of the Year" award (against entries by photographers like Annie Leibovitz and Steve McCurry). More recently, Humphrey has been applying his worldly vision and road-tested skills to projects in fashion and celebrity portraiture. In 2008, his work with Insight Clothing's "Good Morning Pluto" campaign won the brand "Campaign of the Year," and in 2009 he shot Surfing Magazine's award winning annual swim Issue. Most recently, Humphrey won the '09 Sony World Photography Award for his cutting-edge Insight/Dopamine Campaign.

Humphrey is currently working on a follow-up to Sipping Jetstreams, entitled Castles in the Sky, with famed surf director Taylor Steele, as well as a photographic ode to his adopted home of Indonesia, called “Archipelago Love.” Hailing from Huntington Beach, California, he has called Bali, Indonesia home for the last ten years, where he maintains ample studio space, a vast repertoire of exotic shooting locations, and enough surfboards and custom motorcycles to give his weary passport a break now and again. About Life Rolls On Foundation:
