they are super fun. A buddy has a few and you should see hans ride one. He rides it often and rips on one.
It would work as a first board as well as an INT, Doyle or the softboards they sell at Costco...

I've been dying to try a Catch Surf, especially when I realized THE ONE beats the dreaded Blackball every time. I've done my homework on it and it looks like they have a pretty sweet construction. The videos on their site will convince anyone.
If you're interested you can read more on soft tops here.

We compared price, performance, advantages, and the disadvantages of a few different companies (Catch Surf, Liquid Shredder, Surftech). Good luck.

Our company makes the fins for Catch Surf, GLS & INT softboards. If you get the keel fins they are best for point and gluide first time beginners. We also make thruster shaped fins that will mount in the same holes that will liven up the turning ability of the boards quite a bit.

I have a 6'0 Y-Twin and I like it a lot. The variable rocker adds a nice twist, too. I should try some keel fins. Tom, where in Santa Cruz can a guy get these for the Y-Twin?

As I mentioned above, the keel fins are you basic beginner point and glide type of fin set. I'm not sure that they would be the best fins for you. But, Catch Surf sure seems to like them. We sell these fins to several manufacturers and distributors. Since I don't actually sell the fins to the shops, all I can say is any shop that purchases Catch Surf, INT, GLS or Block Surf surf products has access to these fins. Or you could purchase them online via www.ebodyboard.com.

Thanks, Tom. I just like keels is all. The ones the board came with work well enough though.
Thanks for the link, there's a shop up here that rents catchsurf boards, I'll check with them.

Does the Original 54 also beat the blackball every time like they claim? I know its over 5 feet long where as the one is only a 4' 6". I am interested in maybe getting a blackball beater board next summer.

According to what I've read, while the Blackball signifies we can't ride hard boards,it does not address length of the board. You should be OK.
