so im looking for the most surflike skateboard for when its flat, and these 2 brands seem like exactly what im looking for with the weird trucks they have. i was just seeing if anyone here had ridden them before and had anything to say, or if anyone can throwup any other ideas for me. i appreciate it, thanks!
Ya, been looking into boards for flat days as well. Anyone tried the Loaded Ceviche? Board looks weird but looks like it could be a carving/street surfing dream.
Carvers are not the same as really loose trucks. They swivel in the front similar to a shopping cart wheel feeling. You can get them moving from a standstill or pump uphill. You can do a circle in a 4ft radius or something like. That said they are fun and a tripped feeling ride at first but it gets old fast. I'm talking about the c7 carvers, not the cx.
a friend has a Carver (TK model) and I have tried it a number of times. Actually a lot of fun and does feel a bit similar to pumping on a wave. If you have a bit of a decline nearby I say get it...may not be the ultimate trainer, but just fun.

I have one and love it. it slides really well and is also really fun just to cruise around on. I would definitely recommend putting a tail guard on it though.
I've ridden longboards for a while now. I had a Carveboard Surf Stik which was pretty fun and surfy, but it was heavy as hell.
I just got an Original Longboard from the guys in NJ, and it's a blast. I've ridden a bunch of their boards and their trucks are what makes the boards so surfy. You can pump these things like crazy. Even up hill, and it honestly has the most surf like feel I've experienced. You can pump it, slide it, carve it, snap it and everything else. Check them out:

word, c7s are the surfier feeling trucks right? the completes with them are pretty exspensive(200$ and up) but i found a website selling them, wheels with bearings, risers, and the nuts n bolts for 120$ so i may just get those and then get a krooked zig zagger deck for 40$ and save 40$ bux

yeah those are them. i never had a complete from them. i had a bunch of decks, wheels and bearings so i just bought the trucks off someone. i liked them most on a 9" x 36" with a long enough wheelbase that my front foot was just behind the front truck bolts. i didn't like them on shorter boards where the front truck was right under your foot. that was a long time ago- maybe 4 years ago.
what i have now is one of those original completes that i got used. it's a little more versatile and you can pump off either truck, whereas the carver it's only off the front foot. the carver is also pretty sketchy when it gets up to speed. you can speed carve comfortably on originals. but like i said, the carvers have a really trippy feeling about them which are fun, just limited. hope that helps.
i have a carver teardrop. the thing is sick. i don't have the cajones to bomb hills so this little puppy works great. you can pump on a completely flat smooth surface and your foot never has to touch the ground to gain speed. it turns on a dime and is a boatload of fun.

I've been looking at both of those for a while. Which would you say provides the closest substitute for movements in surfing?
Budy of mine has an original hybrid (he uses it to skate in pools sometimes, ***** SICK ) but from what little I've tried on it, it seems about as close to surfing as anything that's not surfing can seem.

they both do, just in a different way. carver - all front foot pumping, tighter turns, even complete circles. originals - front or back foot pumps, better for hills and speed carves. if you're gonna just mess around in front of your house or some small flat area, the carvers would be pretty fun. if you get to do some hills, originals.
ive decided since im too impatient im just gonna get one of the new ...lost surfskates then in a week or two just order the carver c7 trucks for it. thanks alot dudes
