I was in South Coast Windansea last week talking to Bird about handplanes and whatnot. Sitting in the doorway of his office was an EPS Rusty Fish Quattro. It seemed to be my size, so I asked him about it and if I could give it a go. He said no problem and sent me on my way. I have been looking for a good small wave groveler for the last 6 months. After riding my 5'7 x 18 1/4" x 2 1/4" Tomo most of the winter, all my grovelers just seem like they have way too much foam. I am presently waiting on a Zamora Brick that should cover most of my groveling efforts in the near future, but, this Rusty just looked so perfect, I had to try and give it a go. I rode a lot of Rusty's boards for quite a while up until about 10 years ago, and they almost always worked great. For some reason, I got onto a different path and really haven't ridden one since, until now.
The dims- 5'4 x 20" x 2.06" thick Foam- EPS Fins- Future Rusty template quad. fiberglass
The Paddle: Don't let the thickness fool you. This design has an extreme concave deck. It may say 2.06" thick, but that is only down the middle. I would say the thickness toward the rail is around 2.5" thick. It paddles really well and the concave deck actually feels like a nice cradle when paddling and sitting.
The Ride: I love EPS on grovelers. Something about the way the EPS lets you surf on top of the water just works so well for me. The surf was about waist to chest high and hitting the reef/sandbar nicely. Usually a pump or two off the take off then either some lip work or a nice cutback followed by a speed section in the final closeout maneuver. Real fun small stuff and perfect for this board. The design actually caught waves extremely well and pretty much did everything it is advertized to do. Surfs well in the pocket, pivots nicely, and maintains speed extremely well.
As a comparison of similar boards from the bigger company's, I liked this board WAY better then the 2 or 3 Fishcuits that I've ridden in the past.
I really don't want to give this board back and may have to figure out a way to get one for myself.
As for pictures, don't have any. It's your standard white EPS board. Nothing fancy. If you want some pics, google Rusty Fish Quattro.

Saw it in the new TSJ when I opened it today. Looks fun and so does the Dwart. I've only owned one Rusty but it was a great board.
