2010 Ventura Paddle Surfing Championships featuring the C-Street SUP Surfing Challenge in Ventura, CA Contest window: October 15, 2010- October 17, 2010 Sign Up by September 22, 2010 to avoid paying the late fee.
The 2010 C-Street SUP Surfing Challenge are to be held at ‘C Street’ in Ventura, California, between Friday, October 15 and Sunday, October 17, 2010. This event is OPEN to all Stand Up Paddle Surfers. International competitors are welcome. Sign up early as this event is limited to 32 competitors. Other SUP divisions include the various age divisions (Junior, Senior, Masters, and Legends), as well as a women’s division.
Heats will be 15 or 20 minutes in length, and scores will be based on the best 2 or 3 waves depending upon conditions. The format will follow Association of Surfing Professional rules and include a repercharge round insuring that everyone surfs at least twice in every division. The top 4 competitors in every division will receive awards. Judges will be ASP certified.
About the surf break: C-Street is a world renown point break that works from 1’ to 10’ plus and offers rides in excess of a quarter mile! Quality waves are found at multiple peaks along this mile long cobble point. This allows more rides per surf session. The actual contest site will be located ‘Up top’ at C-Street just east of the Ventura River mouth.
There will be a competitors meeting at a location TBA prior to the contest.
Your Registration Fee of $125.00 entitles you to compete in the Open event, and one additional category (your Age Division, or the Women’s Division). Categories must have a minimum of 4 persons to be run (Age categories may be combined to meet the minimum number of competitors). While we encourage all competitors to enter the Open event, some competitors may choose not to. For those of you who do not wish to compete in the Open event, we ask that you please indicate so by selecting events from column B or D on the registration form, so that others may compete in the limited number of slots.

Quote: The 'contest' is set up because of all the bad vibes the C Street punks have been giving the SUP'ers.
i say bring it on! usually when they have contests out there we get a good swell. like the goat boater contest back in '04 (think that was the year) when the surf was PUMPN' 6' to 8'. or the NSSA contest last year with pushing 10' faces.

I don't think the mid-point mafia can stop much. Anyway - does anyone else know more about this? Like:
Where are they putting the judge stand? Up top or in front of the free lot?
Are they gonna bouy off a section and yell at non-contestants with a megaphone?
The last question is the one that concerns me most... otherwise I'm bringing the floatiest board I've got and getting mine anyway. The hell with the sweepers.

Quote: What sucks about this is not the contest, but that it will force all the tards to surf other places in the area.
Containment is one of the best things about C Street.
Bingo, my sentiments exactly! If there is swell, I am foreseeing lots of broken longboards, piping beachbreaks don't really treat longboards very nicely:). That place is rarely "good", it is always kind of rideable though depending on what you "ride".

Isn't the Donny Solomon Benefit this weekend also? If so, that will cover all of the free lot which would leave a small area North and then South inside of C-Street for non contestants.
Oh Well, I don't go near the place on the weekends as it is.

now with about a 1/3rd of the parking lot gone due to the beach "reclaim" project it's going to be pretty tough parking there less crowded though
Bunch of paddlers running their gondolas up and down the point this morning... warming up for their "surf" contest I suppose. Oh well, I hope they don't mind some uninvited contestants - I'm not moving because a flock of sweepers decided to invade.

VCPeppers? THE VCPeppers?!?! It's me, Anne Frankenstein, only they wouldn't let me register as Anne so now I'm Witchipoo.
Er, anyway . . . I hope you at least take a slingshot with you to this thing. I really don't understand what gives people the right to kick everyone out of a public place so they and their buddies can hold some stupid event that means nothing to anyone but themselves, but maybe that's because I used to eat paint chips as a child. Can anyone explain it to me?

-------------------- quit yer bitching...just get out there and...RUN WHAT YA BRUNG!!!
Steamroller, that is EPIC!!! Why did you wait so long to share that with us? Funniest thing I ever saw at Malibu, and you have seen what goes on there. You are classic.

This is the greatest, most awesome thing I have ever seen in my life.
The bar has been set very, very high. I don't think even Sergey Bubka could top that.
Holy Sh!t all time classicness and a Sergey Bubka reference. Dude I saw that guy pole vault in the early 90's at the Sunkist Invitational. He was insane!
Ben "Red Eye" Johnson was there also.
