GT gets punk'd by ESPN
      #1941346 - 12/15/10 09:05 PM

Who hired the Hippy?
What do an LA fashionista, a mod rock star, the sailor from the Village People, an industry homeboy, and Grizzly Adams all have in common? No, it's not an episode of "Glee." It's Greg "GT" Tomlinson. Throughout the years the webcast extraordinaire has channelled the spirit -- or at least swiped the style -- of all of them at one point or another.

A man that's changed his look more than Madonna...
I am calling for an intervention when he lands back on the mainland...

I was wondering the same thing...Man....he is the EPITOME of the "BroBrah" stereotype.

c'mon... really...

it's totally obvious GT is making an effort, though falling short... as it would be difficult for anyone to fill the shoes of the one and only Jeff "The Dude"Lebowski

Seems to me he's just a really rich guy having all the fun he can in life by following the pro tour.

Dude obviously knows a thing or two about business and how to promote himself. Created The Realm. Sold out to Costco. Co-created Von Zipper. Sold it to Billabong. He must be having a blast in life and I'm sure he doesn't give a hoot about what ESPN (Disney) has to say about him. Haha.

I didn't know he co-founded Von Zipper. Dude probably made a MINT in those business deals so props to him. I'm guessing that there is a big difference between "GT The Webcast Guy" and "GT, the offline persona".

the dude flat out sucks as a commentator. he dances around on tangents for 2 mins trying to make an intro before his first question every time. it is funny watching the ct guys full of emotion right after leaving the water having to sit there silent while he waxes poetic. then, count on him missing prime follow up questions and offering very little insight.

bring on Curren - best ever

His post heat interviews are truly horrific. Most of the time the guys seems to have a tone like "who the f@k are you again?"

Don't have anything personally against him, he's just not a good post heat interviewer...doesn't get right into the insight of the heat with the pro, which is what everybody wants to hear fresh outta da water, talks too much & drags out intros that kill off the instant excitment of what happened in the heat...needs to get right to the feelings of the battle from the pros, & for the love of God, move the stupid 'say what??" question from Jasper in Indiana to another time!!...To summerize - Get the feelings of the heat winner FIRST & FOREMOST, what does he think clinched the heat, how does he feel about his next matchup, congratulate, Then make some stupid halfway witty quip on ending, send it back to the booth....repeat.....I don't give a fark how much the 'dude' made from von tripper, CONCISE INTERVIEWS!!!!!

Add to that he gives Jason a run for his money for Creepo of the year (heavyweight divison). However in the moron and narc category of the year Jason has once again lapped the field.

GT is a cool guy. He is super nice and super funny in person when you hang with him. Yeah he may not be the greatest interviewer.

GT has a good wrap as a sideline interviewer; energy and humor. He livens up the unintelligible drivel coming from Occy.

Keep it up GT!

Post heat interviews are lame no matter who does them.

They always basically say the same thing... "everyone is so good its just about getting the right waves..(insert loser) is a great surfer I just managed to get some waves that heat"

Really
GT shares the stock where ever he goes... I know he rambles setting up questions when interviewing sometimes but other times he gets the surfers to open up way more than other interviewers...

I think he does a very good job and I am a harsh critic. The long intros relax the subject so he can dig something good out of them and he tries.

Have known and thought he was a little wacky in the years past...Turns out he is a very humble human with a tack sharp sense of humor.
Good Crew down there....f-the haters...
ESPN should hit coco's on a good punk night...

After watching a few webcasts, GT has grown on me a bit. At first I thought he was retarded, but then i realize he's really is kind of retarded and not faking it, so it makes it kind of funny.
