since moving from LA, there's not a whole lotta options for great italian food. Been to Maggianos and Macaroni grill. Both chains, they're OK but nothing compared to Fraiche in LA or Angelini Osteria. Ironically, they're around the same price.
Any suggestions? I've been dying for some good Italian or French Italian and so has the wifey.

Sonny's in San Clemente?
There's no good Italian on the West Coast besides in North Beach or Pinochio's in Burbank

been to sonny's tons. good place. but nothing I've had down here had that wow factor to it. very homogenized in terms of food although some gems here and there. IMHO Fraiche in LA was my favorite restaurant hands down!
Another one I miss is good Peruvian. I used to live like 2 blocks away from Marios Peruvian in LA. Ate there at least twice a week! Miss the ceviche big time!
I've found some decent to quite outstanding sushi places in OC but they are also pricey for what you get vs LA standards. Go to Sushi-Gen for lunch time sashimi and you'll catch my drift. I miss the food the most out of all things LA.

After living so close to SF for most of my life I'm just stocked that we have by far the best Mexican food all over. Mexican food is my favorite so no matter what I've had across the country I know I live where its best.
If you want to be close to good food of every variety you have to live in San Francisco. Those east coast bitches can say what they want but SF is the best food city in the country... including the Big Easy
If New Orleans was on an ocean instead of the river I would live there tomorrow

The one and only freebirds in isla vista, california.
Although if you describe the process, you can actually get them to make you one at chipotle too.

That place is actually pretty good. Not by New York or SF standards, but OK.
The best place around here is Pizzeria Ortica, which despite its name goes far deeper than pizza. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Plus, it's an attractive, nice place with good service. In Costa Mesa on Anton Blvd near the Performing Arts Center. http://www.pizzeriaortica.com/
For a bit more casual, family style place, with an east coast vibe and good food (the owners are from Joisey) try Nick's Pizza, also in Costa Mesa, on Harbor Blvd.

Will have to check some of those places out someday. I haven't had good Italian food in years, possibly decades. And no, I don't consider Pasta Bravo or Olive Garden to be quality Italian food.

LaRocco's in San Clemente has the best 'East Coast Style' pizza this Philly/South Jersey boy has found in Southern California, after almost 13 years of searching hard. Enjoy!
