Mr. Biolos knows how to generate excitement about his products. Building suspense with this little teaser.
I guess it's the next version of the Rocket? Or maybe a tweaked version for low end waves? I know the rocket generally prefers better waves so that's my guess.
I've been drooling over the blinged out Bottom Feeders HERE myself.

Effectively has lower tail rocker, mellower concave... a little more neutral. I believe the final design will have the wing and tips of diamond moved back a bit compared to board in pic.
OG rockets were great, but the V2 is way more appealing to me personally.

The short story is this....
The V2 has a bit less tail rocker, with less concave through he fins which creates a faster rail line under foot. I actually deepend the concave out of the tail as well. The soft wing helps retain of the quick redirection off the top n bottom..and lend more control in the bowl. To tell the truth, I have moved the points of the diamond up a bit and made the angle closer to the Stealth tail, but havnt finalized this 100%.
The nose rocker is bent up more in the last 12" (to balance the lower TR and keep from poking) and the concave is brought further forward (to compensate for more NR and also further elongating the rail line for more front foot drive) and help with even faster out the gate take rides. The tail rail is sculpted in a more pronounced way, adding a touch of double concave under the rear foot , as well as a low , square and boxy tail rail. I also made the nose a touch wider in the 12-18' mark.
Overall a easier board to ride for an average surfer in sub par waves. it has more down the line drive and a bit less skateboard kick tail feel. The Rocket was one of the most popular boards around the world in the last 5 years...one of the most well known and knocked off surfboard models in recent memory. It obviously has merit and worked well for thousands of surfers, but there is always room for imporvment. I used the feedback from the average joe to update and refine what was not broken. The original Rocket will always be available form us as well. This doesn't replace the Rocket, it compliments it.

Like the sound of what he's done with the rocker and concave. I think the tail still needs some work. It looks pretty funky and awkward. I found the original Rocket didn't really work for me unless the surf was bigger or had a lot of push and the nose rocker was so low it seemed a little sticky till you got going and could stomp on the tail.
The Rock Up, with more nose rocker and less tail rocker actually worked better for me in both bigger and smaller waves.

just saw one of these in person today and it looked money. one I saw was a 5'10x20x2.44. I think a 5'9 would work well for me. looks much more user friendly than the standard rocket I'd assume. anybody ridden one yet?

Matt talks a lot about this design on his posterous blog. He seems really stoked on it and recommends it often to guys asking design questions. The few I have seen have that look of a board that will work.

Picked up my custom V2 today. 20 min later I was in the water. Ohhhhhh shiittttt. Dont feel like writing a long description but the board works exactly like its name: THE ROCKET...
So freakin stoked, so far 3 for 3 lost boards and all are pure magic. RNF, driver and rocket
even the board i picked up today out of pure luck, the logo color lost put matched my boardshorts, leash and pad I randomly/bought.
I while waiiting for a set and noticed that

Here is the rocket:
I can say this is probably the easiest board I have ridden to date. It paddles really really fast, hooks into the wave when you are positioned and takes off. Once up and riding, you got that instant release but at the same time, you can quickly redirect, cut back and just dictate where you wish to go in critical sections. I took off on tons of backside waves and quickly can throw the board under my feet taking off late, and no problem driving off the bottom and making the lines. I only had the cheap fins that comes with the board and its still worked really well. Once I put better fins, the board is gonna blow my mind. Board feels really good under your feet with tons of projection without compromising the sense of control you get in fishes. I cant wait for more sessions. Thanks Mayhem

You are very welcome. Fyi: reason I got this board is the rnf is really good in small waves but trips me out when surf gets somewhat good. Rocket compliments nicely. When surf gets really good, I transition to the driver which is unbelievable. So three boards in the golf bag. Right board for the right conditions. Rnf for anything under waist. Rocket for somewhat good waves and driver when its gets good. All three boards magic but need to be used for the right conditions.

damn, sick board!! I felt up some at catalyst a few weeks back and that board spoke to me. I think Matt has a grovel version coming out soon as well. Thanks for the pics and review of the rnf and v2.

I had one. Did not click at all with me. Felt stiff and board felt a bit too much volume for me. Keep in mind I surfed it in ok waves, nothing special, but there were a few waves that lined up and i know I would have surfed much better on my other boards. I'm sure it's a good board, just not for me. Board was well made, outline looks killer. Felt great underarm. So, again, I'm not bashing on board, just not for me.

Hey, I bought the V2 on impulse, stock board. It was same size as yours. Have no idea why it felt clunky to me. The volume should have been perfect. I think I wasn't use to how the volume was distributed. I'm 183. Should have given it more time before I sold it but my buddy wanted it so I gave it up.

Different in what way? were MB's recommendations too much foam? Or not enough?

Not sure about the V2 but I had a similar experience with two older Rockets as adam33. Worked OK but the foam distribution just didn't work for me. It's a chunky, flat board except for the exaggerated tail rocker. Until the wave is big/steep enough to really lean back and use that rocker, the front half seems to have difficulty getting out if it's own way. In chest high steep waves it went good, but everything does. Think the V2 tries to address these issues but the overall volume and chunkiness looks pretty much the same.
I found the Rock Up with the pulled tail, extra nose rocker and less tail rocker and thinned out rails solved most of the problems I had and works even in smaller surf as long as they have some juice if you get the sizing right. Grocket looks like it might too.

Nice. Its really a nice board. Took it out yesterday in small stuff and suprisingly it worked really well. Its a very fast board with tons of hold.
Best board I have ever ridden to date!!!!!!!!! Board description is spot on! I do love the RNF as well
Any recommendations on which fins I should put in the rocket? I'm in the 180 range

How small are you talking about? I'm hoping it will cover punchy waist high to mediocre head high for me and still be able to hold in better waves if necessary.
I think raked fins like the AM's are supposed to be good in boards with tail rocker. They have a smaller centre fin too which should be good.
