Im thinking about buying a classic truck, around a 64- 71. Ford unibody would be cool but im told they are hard to get parts for. Something with out rust on the body. Anyway i don't really know what im doing and i know some of you guys are into this stuff. What is the pros/cons of owning a truck or classic car? besides the money pit of course. Thanks And i was thinking about something like this. Im gonna keep my current pick up as it is a nice truck and i dont have a car payment any more. Maybe get classic car insurance for one of these web page

im thinking something like 1966 F100. I currently drive a 97 chevy step side. Its a great truck. Im just sick of all these shitty cars from the last 25 years or so. I want something with some style and a good paint job.

Business in the front party in the back. Go for a 64-66 El Camino.

You should be in central tex. right now...

I'll be there later, taking fresh pics of this year's event and cruising on my '74 yamaha. I like the no nonsense hipster style. something that is pulled from a rusted junkyard and cleaned up only enough to run and stop.

I've got a '58. The Chevies are easy to get parts for. Fords not as easy.

Biggest problem is when they get too clean you wont want to take it anywhere afraid of it getting ding I've got an old car I've been working on for a long while,I didn't really intend on it going this way(I was originally building a play/race car) but now I worry about taking it to parking lots

An Austin, don't see too many of those and especially not in that kind of shape.
For the OP - how much do you like to wrench on stuff, chase down parts, etc.? Fun hobby if you have the time. My boss when I worked in a gas station had an early 60's step side chevy with a 6/3 on the tree that we used for parts and machine shop runs. I'd love to have that truck today, not the best for a long road trip but for the limited driving I do it would be great. Those older trucks were pretty bullet proof as long as you had some mechanical skills.
If you're in Southern California you can get some parts that are really hard to get otherwise in the junk yards in TJ. Good luck.
