this is not a mini sim
      #2301705 - 05/04/12 07:26 PM

Although it does look like one...

It's a macro in my world, at 6'2"x23"x3 1/4" +/- ! It's for Haut Surf Shop owner, Jeff Langston, who's an older gent, so there's way more foam than normal. But, still not just a fat D railed boat. He's going for a quad + single box, and wanted a slightly different tail. So, there's a very drawn in hip, with a whale tail. Weird being asked to leave volume, but it was fun all the same.

Thanks Jeff!

Nice one Rob. Looks like fun. Tried a single fin on a tail that wide?

at 18+" I think a single fin would just spin out every time you want to turn hard... but that could be "fun" in junky waves I suppose...

finished the board, put it in the shop for Jeff to take home, and 2 hours later he came back to tell me someone came in and just had to have it... so he sold it!

that's rad, but now I have to make him a new one...

Killer glass job, especially the color separation at the egg. I see you skipped the single fin.

thanks!

it's all done at once, just a couple different pours going on. I just keep cleaning the squeegee as I work on it. Never really know what it's going to look like, and the clock is ticking the whole time. Keeps it interesting...

oh wait, misread your post...

yeah, I wrapped the moon part before I pulled the rails. Makes it easier when pulling the rails down tight. The deck lam is the opposite, strictly for looks though...

Putting fun back into shaping ideas...turns, floaters and throw in a nose trim. It's all good. Riding HPSB whatever the conditions is not my idea of fun...keep them coming Twinzer.
