Thought it was worth the posting. Waited a while for it. Matt shaped the first one but wasnt happy with the first shape canned it and redid it. Bummer the lag time but this is why I love surfing on Mayhems, he cares about his customs even for chumps like me.
6'1.5" 20.35x2.75 I went extra think based off a Jordy Mayhem I saw. I requested a team rail. Seriously best rails Ive had on any Mayhem Ive had, and that crazy cause Ive had a couple wicked ones. Im walking at 215 was actually up at 237 when ordered. Uninjured again and training hard so cut a bunch of weight. The rails on this feel more like off a 2.44 or 2.5. Colume in cu l is 36.4 which is perfect for me with a suit with I always add @ 10lb for. The board has a domed deck line and the rail line is pulled in accordingly.
Also of interest is the template/file. Like my last Driver that ended up being a Julian round tail test file [FW 6.2] this has something special/weird. Its a Sub Scorcher Pro-Grovel. No idea what that is or means but ill reach out to Matt to see whats up... Tail is pulled in and has slightly more curve then Ive seen on other Sub Scorchers
As for the lam, cleanest Ive had; Hydroflex are getting their stuff down. board weighs a svelte 6.6lbs per my scale and feels as I requested lighter then a rack board but didnt want a feather weight.
Been surfing Futures consistently for a few months and finally ordered some on here. Been surfing very solid and for the record I feel Im getting better drive with them. Will run Solus sides with a WCT techflex trailer
Ive been surfing RWSD shapes and tripping how good they are going so next board Ive ordered will be a copy of what I have now an Anything from HF and a Monster Mush. HF boards are killin it for me

nice board meng.
Pretty sure Matt shapes all the customs... The boys in production get everything cut but all the finish work gets done by Mayhem, so I been told.
So the wetsuit design team at Billabong hollered at me and a couple guys to come out and test 2013 Billabong suits of fit feedback. Plus had the new stick. Surfed 1-4ft [maybe] beachie. Tide pushing really swamped things out. In english it sucked. sidebar: For the record Billabongs suits for next year are looking pretty wicked. The SG5 I surfed was goofy in the cut around the lower throat but ovverall good. Couldnt take it off by myself [I have 57" shoulders] The Xero was nuts, to warm. I have a review of them posted on my blog, PM me if you want to see it
So first off disclosure. I surfed like a cvnt lol Secondly I blew it. I got cute with the fins. I have no business running smaller trailer in these template type boards. DUmpster, NeckBeards, WD's from RWSD, all of these shapes IMO click with bigger fins, atleast for me... Have a feeling the board will go better with better fins. My stupid ass put in a small trailer, thought I was Parko on his I am Red. it was more like I am fail. Board just was squirting and no drive
BUT:
Board: wow. pretty crazy how motivated it was. There were waves that i literally just stood on a trimmed and it ran through some sections because it felt like my knees were duct taped together. When any shortie of mine does that means its going. Board rode sharp, couple of waves put it together which Im glad I deserved the rebate. Given the volume really sensitive on rail.
All said I had a really shocker of a day rythym wise. I was up at 5:30 am with a client in the water for hour and half then hustled down for the Billy surfworkout try new wetsuits wank fest. Maybe shot my wad to early.
Am I happy with the board? Well anytime I have a shvt surf I get sketched on what I was riding. That said, board has something in it. Need to get it in something with better push, but pretty happy. Need to lighten up about it, still had fun, but I am that guy who if Im not connecting dots I turn into Mr. I. M. Bitterman
Would I recommend it. Well the lam is bomber, slight denting, and the shape good, rails are art, given how fat a shvtty the surf was, and how cvntry I surfed. yes

That's what I like about surfing. I can go from surf star to kook and back again in 20 minutes. Humbling sport. Fortunately, as I get older, my expectations get proportionaly lower. DD, sounds like a below par day. Next go-out, you might find what that board can really do. Nice board and it seems like the perfect dims for you.

So is this the hydroflex with an air valve? Do or can you adjust the air pressure?

It's the '3D vacced glass job' but not the 'supercharged' version with the valve and pump. The HF glass job on a PU blank.

Yea Mayhem is really tweaking adjusting his stuff. I really feel good in saying Matt & his shapers/crew are creating space on the industry as the master shaper. How much his boards have evolved and most importantly have been refined is really cool. I know the scoop on how it works at Lost and they all buy the boards, and the few guys that ride for him surf them and get paid little or none. I think his best shapes and stuff is coming up.
If any of you guys ever hold a Minnie Driver under the arm and it doesnt speak to you something isnt right. That shape is one of the nicest looking plugs on my eyes since Machado's eagle wing from CI

Hey FR,
have you done a ride report or board review on the mini driver yet? I'm severely interested in one, but I'm not sure where it fits into my quiver. Thanks, Vic

Donnie, Now that you've had the chance to use this board a bit, How is it doing durability wise? Is the difference noticeable when compared to how regular PU boards are glassed? Thanks.

Ive said this before there is no difference in feel if there was Id say they feel more damp. If you took the pepsi challenge with PU HFlex or Poly new I dont think one could tell the difference besides weight. Durability is excellent, they dent up but far less.
The difference in manuf is very different and the cloth as I understand is from Germany and Mayhem was just there and apparently he was tripping on the cloth used, so I heard. If Im using a PU blank I want it in HFlex. EPS Im not stressing the lam from them PU for sure

after seeing this thread and having my eyes on a driver for a while I placed an order (thanks donnie!) for a 6'4x19.75x2.55 round/thumb tail PU/hydroflex driver. Ive been riding it for the last 4-5 months. The lam seems indestructible. Im really hard on my boards and dont baby them carrying them around and such. Not a ding yet. Still getting a good amount of denting on the deck but I was expecting that. The board rides unreal. Really forgiving. Really fast. Has held up in everything Ive put it in so far from overhead days to 2ft mush. STOKED.

Yeah I had 2 boards from SuperBrand in that build. Felt like most of my other EPS built boards but to light. Also good, I would ask them to lam them touch heavier. The Natural's are the biz :fact
