Ryans is 6/4" x 22" x 2 7/8" with my 5 Fin Setup

Ryan is picking them up right now.
I also brought this Modern Fish 5 Fin to be Demoed by a few Sunset regulars .

I really like how the paint splatter is done on Mark's board. What's the difference with these modfish2 vs original modfish?

The Modern Fish was made to be the best fish I could make with shortboard capabilities .
The Modern Fish 2 takes it closer to being a wide shortboard for an even wider range .
The wide point is moved back to center from the originals 1 1/2" forward.
The nose at the 12" is widened a bit to get the same template entry angle going into center.
The tips have been narrowed by 1 3/8" as well.

When taking an order I base the size off what the customer rides. In this discussion I am thinking of tail width at the fins and what size I will be using.
These boards don't need to be changed to be ridden as 5 fins or keels.
With the Felix tail it allows me to place the rear fin back far enough to be ridden as a thruster.
This is the feedback from the demo from someone who has ridden only one of Sunset Beaches main board builders boards for 15 years on his first go out. I am sure there was some fun conversation in the water.
The 6'2" Fish 5 Fin Griffin goes unreal. I only had a short window for a session, but got all Curren-esque on that thing banking it off of all this little week sections & it was really responsive and had plenty of speed on gutless waves...Good board for sure, wonder how it will ride as a thruster. It would be a killer board for the points where I grew up with the thick wetsuit on. The board has good pop too could feel it flex in the turns and come out quicker than the speed I went into them on.

Great looking boards Greg. Between the Potter twin and Mod keel posts of late Im frothing. Rode my Mod 5 in punchy head high beach break yesterday and was reminded how lucky we are all the have access to such a great shaper. I buy boards often from a very short list of shapers that completely understand the custom experience. Greg gets this. Keep posting and sharing your work!

First ride reports from Mark.
1) beautiful
2) in the two sessions it's gotten: fast, drivey and intuitive.
can't wait for more south swell to really test 'er out!!!

A review of the Modern Fish Demo.
I didn't get the chance to ride it on that last swell..but did surf it out at Laniakea today. Waves were a super weak waist high peak with knee high wall and the board went frinkin insane. I was able to hit every section I wanted and it didn't bog in the flat spots. The board was going insane. I got two waves that were thigh high on the take off and rode them each over 100 yards on only knee high walls and got to do some many turns I can't believe it. I would never have had that much fun on my grovel board as I did with your board today.

Its sad that I have been labeled crazy here on the interweb for spending the time to research and make fins for these boards.
It makes all the difference.
Looking toward a really fun winter .

More from Mark
Mark recently posted his board on Facebook and I asked .
What kind of board is this ? ;-)
His reply .
Mark Conley As it turns out, a very, very groovy one. One that puts me in places on the wave my fishes and mini-sims rarely can - therefore offering brand new, exciting choices to ponder while flying down the line at Mach 10. Thanks, GG. Your designs plain work. South swell has never been more anxiously anticipated! 6 hours ago · Like
Another response in the chain.
Mark Conley ‎Adam Lamoureux Ryan Holmes and Danny Jacobsmeyer are equal parts GG wavehogs. Greg, you would be proud to watch the early morning gorging that goes on via your craft. Ridiculous. 4 hours ago ·
Makes me happy

More feedback from Mark Today.
Greg,
Since getting my Mod Fish 2 I have either become a much better surfer or this the most versatile and high performance board i have ever had. It feels like the barrier to allowing my body to do what it know I need to do on the wave is almost negligible. I have a lot more time and speed, and may more options open on the wave than I am used to. It actually feels like I am surfing my best ever at 40 years old and that is priceless!
Thank you very much! — at The Hook.
I'm Happy .

My friend in Italy posts these all the time.
No one is bothered .
Read Ryan's and Mark's review of these boards after having 20 years of others.
Its why I do it the way I do
