Is lulu surfing the NSSA championships ? My friends daughter is heading out there west for that. I think they're around the same age. (16)

She doesn't surf NSSA... she does Surfing America Prime, WSA and other special comps... NSSA would add way too many comps..

tuesday Trestles was good. completely flat churches, middles, uppers and really good sets coming in at trestles. clean conditions. freak of nature place. groms were so stocked.

Except this is wrong.
It's hilarious when people try to say "surf contests are not a part of surfing" and act like there was a universal group hug. Surfing has always been competitive by nature, whether be it in contests or not. Even in freesurfs, unless it's an empty lineup or it's in rotation, you're competing.
It's been a part of surfing since the ancient Hawaiians.
Competitiveness/fights/etc. was a HUGE part of surfing in 60s.
70's you had all that bustin down the door business.
Fact: It may only be a small part of surfing, but it's always been a part of it.
PS: This does not been you can't have fun. I have fun every time I'm surfing (unless it's during a south swell at a Socal pointbreak with barntards i nfull effect).

Wrong is a concept. I happen to agree with Mr. Parrish. You and I have disagreed before, and now again. As always, you're entittled to your opinion. I can only hope that surfing in your opinion provides you as much life as what surfing is to me has provided for me and those around me.
If you're surfing, you're surfing all the time. Everthing you do is secondary. Everything. Ask Dale!
Tom Morey was once asked if he would give up surfing for a million dollers. He responded by asking something to the effect of "does that include hanging your hand out the car window at a freeway underpass?".
