Been moving stuff all morning. I have a remodel project going on too - there's 3k worth of building materials in the carport and it's raining and blowing like stink.

Thought about a trip last night, but 5+ hrs one way, the fuel bill, and a hotel room just sounds steep for a road trip to the Panhandle, although I've seen some fun looking lefts coming in.

Hopefully not. I've had plenty of practice preparing for such events. The house can be hosed out with no lasting damage - it's just a lot of work.
Your concern is noted however.

Well, we survived the night - frikken craziest weather ever. Must have had 70 mph winds when that last squall came thru.
I've got 95 bags ($35 per bag) of self leveling cement sitting on the back patio surrounded by 6" of water. I've got it up on a 24" pedestal so it's dry but the tarps keep blowing off. Only had a few inches of water in the house at the lowest part. Now the fun part - we've got 3 more days of this Debby bitch hanging around.
To keep this surfing related, Indian Rocks (Lopez Bros) and all the other beaches have sustained a lot of erosion and will be a serious mess by the end of the week.

Sounds like great looting weather! At least your cement won't blow away when the tornadoes start. It's gonna take a while for the swamp to drain after this one.

Waves have been great in the Tampa Bay area. Surfed Saturday on Anna Maria island and it was chest high and good form. Sunday had good waves all over the place, it has been windy today and late Sunday, I am awaiting the slack in winds. I will try to get some photos.

In the beginning the NHC had this storm heading to Tx/La. Check the difference in the projected route between 4am this morning

That Texas surf looks fun!
I woke up with a migraine headache from all the stress of watching the water go in and out of my house. That and a vague recollection that I was picked for jury duty and had to report at 8:15. At least I had a good excuse so I was able to reschedule.
The rain has mostly stopped but the wind is howling and the tides are way above normal. Probably have two more high tides to deal with before it's over. Then it's 3 days of house and yard clean up.

Surfed Clearwater beach yesterday around the "walls" break by the south jetty. The waves were waist to chest and semi-chop, still some fun little sections but the wind is still howling. Will be there again today after work for some choppy fun.

A buddy sent me some video of a popular inlet/pass on the gulf yesterday.......Well overhead /offshore and reeling.....as good as I've ever seen it. Each wave a copy of the other. wow.

Someday, I really want to surf some fun waves in Texas with all the cool Texas cats I have met on the North Shore, Mexico, etc. Pound for pound (hilldo reference) some of the coolest and most classic surfers I have ever hung with. They are like hilarious redneck Aussies, and I mean that in the best possible way.
Edit: with the exception of Ken Bradshaw, f*ck that guy.
