Wanted to see if some people can give me some thoughts on these two boards. Either a 5'10 or 5'9 mini or a 5'11 sub driver. Coming for a js revolution which is not working for me. I am constantly burying the rail when I try to drive hard off the bottom. It also tends to surf well down the line but not so well top to bottom. Anyway can any who has ridden either board give me their impressions??? Had a sub scorcher which I loved but it died.... So this is the next logical step... Ride mostly 2-4 ft waves

Tempted to order a roundtail 5-fin sub driver. I think it will extend the top-end limit a bit. Never rode a sub driver so this is just fantasy maybe. Mini driver I tried goes really good though in just about anything. After reading descriptions of both, I am leaning towards the sub driver, I think.

I actually had the sub scorcher and I really liked it and should have gone another instead of the JS. Thats why I am going back to lost thought I may try something a little different..... only thing I didnt like about the sub scorcher was it didnt like steep take offs and hollow waves. My 2-4 foot is I suppose waist to a a foot over head. I have a sweet potato that I like to surf on when is small and fat...

If you're getting hollow waves then a roundtail Sub Driver would be my pick

Have both mini and sub drivers. Need more swell to get them water time tho. Only rode them once each so far, on different days and breaks. I just noticed the mini turns a tad easier and turns are butter smooth since it's a thumb tail. Wish I could provide more feedback. I believe Sub is suppose to be more traditional shortboard while mini is more alternate/hybrid like rockets.

if you get out there and get a bit more feedback on both let me know.... I the mini looks like it very flat through the front half of the board and would grovel well if you had enough length in it....realy like both boards and even the sub scorcher its going to be a hard choice.... what sizes did you go in both boards?????

I've never ridden a sub driver but I do have a mini driver and can tell you the board doesn't really light up until its about 4 feet. If it were me, and I was looking for something to ride in consistently 2 - 4 foot surf I would go for something with a wider tail block than the mini (note that it doesn't have a particularly narrow tail but that it looses width quickly behind the fins).
Personally I'd be looking at the sub scorcher, sub blaster, or a custom sub driver with wider than normal dims.

Hmmmm. I wanted to get something that was a quiver killer, maybe a round tail sub driver would be a better call than the mini...

I got a sub driver with wider than stock dims. It surfs well in 2ft to solid 4 (it excels in the punchy 3-4 foot range) and is a great daily driver.
with the mini driver your going to lose the low end. In my opinion, with a balance of high performance and range of waves the sub-d is going to cover the most area for you.

From reading Matt's blog it sounds like the MD is a great quiver killer. Guys are surfing it in 2ft Trestles and Huntington right up to 6ft+ Indo barrels.
I've got one on the way for quality waist stuff up to average head-high waves. Smaller junk I'd use a Sweet Potato and when it's real good ill jump on my shortboard.

My mini is 5'9" and sub is 5'10". I only tried both in 4'+ as I been riding my Anything when it's 2-4'. I don't feel that you lose low end on mini vs the sub, but mini's tail does pull in more like kool-aid says.

Will end up getting one but may wait for a couple of months....
