Is the Oneill psycho I 3/2 full worth the hype and the money (I can get it for $240 rather than the $290 retail). Does it keep the cold water flush away from the neck? Also, any online stores with a good price you can recommend would be great. Thanks

Yes, get it. Especially with your discount. I just got one and it's by far the best suit I've had. Super stretchy and comfortable, extra exterior seals over the seams, the neck stays dry and soft (no rash), the zip has an extra barrier that keeps flushes out.

Pretty good suit. I think it is priced a little high for what you get compared to Xcel, and the new(er) Billabong suits. That being said the Psycho I, II, and minimal seam 'Spice' are IMO the best cold water suits out there. dd

I think both psycho's are good suits. Having said that, the quality of oniell suits seems to be declining while other suits seems to be getting better. I have a psycho I and II and i'm not as happy with these psycho's as the last one i had, 2 years ago. People do say that o'neill's are the warmest cold water suits but I find that hard to believe, my P II is not that warm. I'd like to try an xcel or hotline.
Having said all this, the most important thing is fit, high end suits are fairly comprable, the one that fits you the best will be the warmest period.

Kool Aid is right--the fit is important. I just bought a Psycho II that I've worn a half dozen times and it is the dryest, warmest 3/2 I've ever had. Unfortunatley O' Neill's never fit me good (I'm thin with wide shoulders) and this one is no different ( I didn't really realize it til I surfed in it a few sessions)so I bought a Quiksilver Cell 5 this weekend and I'm going to eBay my Psycho II LS tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Halcyon, I'll be using it in the coldest days in FL, 62 F water temp. Also for traveling... mid to high 50's water temp. Will this work. I agree fit is very important, rip curls are way too tight in the shoulders and arms, whereas this oneill fits pretty good (an XL for me at 6'2 and 180lbs). I'll try some of the others for fit. Thanks

where in Florida are you?
I surfed 58 degree water the other day and did not enjoy it one bit. Felt like a kook but was kinda wishing I had my booties I remember last year there was a couple days where the water was right about 50 degrees. I could no believe how fukkin cold that is.

Really really try on a L. Both fit 6'2" and XL is waaay to fat at the tummy. The stretchy rubber is made to stretch, and when water migrates just a bit in, the tummy will be too big.

SJ, a LS would be way too big, you're between a large and medium in O'neill, a medium would be better. Who sold you a LS that would be fine at your height if you weighed 180 - 200.

You should ask Kevin about our motocross daze, and the early days of Sloat surfing off Wises Wawona shop. Believe it or not, that old one eye can really ride flattrack pretty darn well, sliding at 40+ mph on his Maico490. The faster the track, the better he raced. The ruttier and bermed the track, the more he fell.....

Hey FlSurfer,
It's a very flexible suit. It needs to be treated with care. I have one myself and it's one the best ones I have once the water gets over 56 degrees here in Santa Cruz. Once the water gets around 54 or so I'm in my 4/3. The phsyco 1 and 11 are about the same as far a warmth is concerned but my Quicksilver 4/3 cell is the warmest suit I have. When there's some wind on the 50-52 degree water and no sunshine it's the one! On most days the O'Neill is a good call cause it's a little more flexible and easier to get in and out of.
By the way the new Body Glove "Vapor" looks sweet.
At 6'2" you may want to consider an XL long. Definitely try the suit on before you go for it.

Agreed on the sizing. Be sure to try on a L or Large-tall if they have it. I'm 5'11" 180, and my L fits great, I actually thought it was a little big at first. There's plenty of room in the shoulders and belly. You might be swimming in a XL, and the only thing worse than a suit that's too small is one that's too big (think easy flush). Just be sure to try on a couple different ones.

I'm pretty stocked on my 5/4/3 F-Bomb Rip Curl suite. I was a little scarred that it would be restrictive, but with Rip Curl's E2 neoprene, the thing almost feels like wearing a 4/3. I can't believe how warm and comfortable I am, either.
Yeah, I'm a temperature pansy. Sosume.

in one year and surfing almost everyday i went through 3 rip curl wetsuits(ultimate fireskin, ultimate elasto, aquaban), 1 top of the line billabong, and 2 xcell. 2 rip curl had defects and one let a lot of water in through the sleeves. the billabong is just a bad wetsuit. the xcell are still with me. i´ve tried an Oneill Psycho II and compared to my new xcell 4/3 infiniti is no match for warmth/flex combo that the Xcell is, plus all of mine 3( 3/2, 4/3 and a long sleeve spring suit) have durable construction. The x zip system from Xcell is by far the best in ergonomics terms...

I gotta say, I have both the 4/3 (from last year) and the 3/2 (picked it up last week) Psycho 2's and I couldn't be happier. Surfed yesterday, water was 52...I wore the 3/2 (with booties) 'cause it was a little later in the day and first of all, I didn't even feel water in my suit for the first hour or so, and was rediculesly warm the entire session and super stoked about how flexible it is. I am about 200 lbs, and wear an XL. I also am really thick in the chest and upper back with a 18" neck...so most suits have a hard time fitting me well (usually tight in the chest and strangle me in the neck and super loose around the waiste and belly - Not this suit ). Psycho 2 is the best fit and warmpth for my dollar.
My .02 is to try one on and make sure you find the best fit. Most wetsuits nowadays are so friggin good, just find one that fits your body structure good and feels best.

I know what the weight charts say, but I guess they don't take into account athletic builds (same problem I have when i buy suits). An XL in Rip Curl is blood restricting tight in my arms and lats, and it feels like the overall length is tugging down my traps. (yes i go to the gym when it's flat here in FL, which is more than 4 times a week) The XL Oneill fits good in the arms and shoulders, but I know the waist is big- maybe that can be taken in. MAybe if I start killing a 12 pak of beer nightly I won't have to worry about altering any of my clothes or wetsuits.

Good you're aware of the extra room in the tummy. Beer takes care of all your woes and worries....... A Hotline L would be just perfect. I'm 147 lbs., and can wear a RipCurl S, M, or L. I have all three!

I shelled out the bucks this year and got the Psycho 2. It's the best wetsuit ever! Super warm. But Oneil's have always to fit me really good. I wear a medium-short. I'm about 5'8, 152, and slightly stocky. They seem to be well fitted to people of my build. I had an Oneil from 3 years ago that seem to fall apart a lot faster than this one. However, I've taken very good care of this suit and it seems to be holding up well.

Yeah, i got the Psycho II and it was a dissappointment from the start. More because I just got out of a 4/3 Rip Curl and the 4/3 Oniell is wayyyyyyyyy stiffer and more restrictive to paddle in. I immediately felt bound up in the shoulders and it is still pretty stiff feeling. It is plenty warm though. Poor design makes the velcro rip the suit apart constantly when not wearing it.

Funny thing.....I just picked up the P2 last week after trying on a few suits...and at 5' 8" and 152 I think we had the same fitting experience....this monkey suit fits...!

Yes, it's a good suit...kind of leaky around the neck compared to the psycho 2 (which kind of feels like its strangling you, but it's a tight seal and warmer as a result)...but psycho 1 is probably fine for your neck of the woods (no pun intended)...super flexible warm suit for a 3/2...Warning, however, the knees on mine wore out in one summer...Also had similar issues with a 6/4...
