Are you for real? Quit crying about working. At least you can hold your head up, your no welfare rat. Working 6 months to collect, etc. And that garbage about how districts look at kids??? Really, dude how much mentoring did they tell you you'd be doing? You see the kids maybe an hour a day(on average) for 180 days. How much impact can you have vs. a life time of crap some of them have. You were lucky enough to not see how sh*ty some people have it. But the truth is some folks are shot by age 13. Its not fair, and yeah you don't have to like it. And its not your fault or the districts. You need to get real. Just do your job the best you can, encourage the kids, and teach them what they need to learn. If you are going to last teaching you better forget that idealism or you will be down on a kick-A job. Been doing it for 12 years. Best job ever. You can't get too personally upset over kids f-d up lives man. Encourage them. If they are going to pull out of the crap, it is up to them, not you. You'd be a fool not keep doing it. Plus, plenty of districts in Jersey with good surf. Google map Ocean City High School... You just may want to tranfer. And drop that liberal BS idealism. Just do the job. Do it well. Enjoy the perks. Or you will just PO the guys that work their A off 12 moths a year with 2 weeks vacation, no pension, and pay out the A for insurance.
