I like this board best in punchy, bowly waves that are head high and over, but to be honest, it goes well in a really wide range of surf....
If I'm surfing a more open-ocean type wave or a really lined-up wave, then I choose a 6'6 diamondtail widowmaker. This also goes in anything from waisthigh to well overhead, but just prefers a different type of wave.
I've definitely found that I seem to be ordering boards for certain 'types' of wave in recent years, rather than just thinking about ordering a board for 'small', 'medium' or 'solid' waves. Seems to work for me.
