I went in hard, was doing multiplication/division in 1st grade, advanced to informal pre-calculus in 5th/6th grade and was subsequently burned out in 8th grade. Knew that I had to step up, though, so just muscled through last several years, maintaining necessary GPA. F*cked up and made dean's list first year of college, created unnecessary expectations.  Coasted with a 3.0 in the end.
People north of Zuma are exempt of this as they know the reality of 35 degree air and 52 degree water but everyone south of Dume bitching? Seriously? F*ck y'all. The reason Disneyland and Sea World exist where they do is because the management understands the adjacent blatant faggotry. Period.
If you live in OC or SD (any part) you can NEVER EVER EVER claim localism because of what is in your backyard, period. You think you're hard but you're not. You don't have the waves to back it up. And for the record, I despise myself for taking the easy geology route (it's a great hobby but a career?) instead of going full-bore into physics/astronomy. So bitter at that and life passed me by. Lotto was high - if I won, I'd retire immediately and go right into enrolling in whatever school would take me for advanced physics and astronomy. With many breaks for surf trips but still, yeah, those are my talents - I had a head for that but...
