Possible Sinus Infection

Hi SurfDoc,
Long time listener, first time caller. Any advice would be appreciated.
About two weeks ago, I would get really, really intensely bad headaches. I mean something like an 8/10 (and I really don't complain - seriously). The headaches would only occur on the left side of my head, and more towards the actual side of my head, I guess. My left nostril (here come the grosser details) was pretty stuffy/runny and had yellow mucus. The right nostril was pretty much fine, as was that side of my head. The headaches would always occur between 12:00-3:00 and last a couple of hours, always a sort of throbbing, very intense pain.
After a week, this all stopped and I was fine for about a week.
Now, the headaches are starting back up again, except this time everything is happening on the right side of my head. Same runny nostril (this time on the right) and same excruciating pain (but on the right) and same time schedule.
I finally went to the doctor today and she thought it might be a sinus infection, but, to be honest, didn't seem very thorough and only talked to me for about five minutes.
She prescribed levofloxacin (an antibiotic, I'm allergic to penicillin) and a fluticasone propionate nasal spray and sudafed.
Does this sound like a sinus infection to you? If it matters at all, I did surf pretty frequently the past few weeks and one of the times may have been after some rain.
Also, should I stay out of the water for awhile?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
