I'm 6'2, 75kg and have been learning on a 7ft minimal for about 6 months now.
I live in new zealand and my local beach is more-often-than-not small and mushy around 2-3ft but we get occasioanlly cleaner 4-6ft sets rolling in
The minimal is cool but right now, I have an opportunity to get one of these boards at a good price (shop closing down).
 full-size
I figured the stryka would be a good one to grab but I've heard a few people tell me (against the grain advice) that there are advantages to learning on a shortboard as well, therefore that af2 could be a good choice?
Any opinions here? I'm not looking for an easy-ride but something that will benefit my surfing in the long run and I want to ride a shortboard eventually.
