Them:RNFQ XTR 5-10 x 19 3/4 x 2 3/8 ROCKET XTR 6-0 x 19 3/4 x 2 3/8
Lawn: Registered Carl Spackler Bent. It's a hybrid. A combination of Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensimilla. It's a little harsh.
Before we start a "You really shoulda gone way shorter" thread...
Me: 40 x 6-5 x 195 Picture Owen Wright's American, carb loving cousin. Just add 2" + 25lbs + 20 years - half the talent (on a good day). 28 years of surfing (Man, I should really be better by now!)
I can't fully review these twins yet, but rode the Rocket this morning in head high, lined up waves, and it performed like a champ! With my height and weight, a normal shortboard would range from 6-6 to 6-8. You ever try to take a board of that size vertical on a waist high wave? And forget throwing the tail with my chicken legs. The last few years, I have been experimenting with fish, rocket fish, retro fish, and even a couple of Hynsons, in an attempt to ride shorter, more maneuverable boards, all along missing the feeling of a great HPSB. After one session, the Rocket lived up to all that I have heard and read about; fast, skatey, and great at making smooth transitions. Absolutely no problem catching waves either, although, when you have the wingspan of a condor, wave catching has never been a problem. I can't wait to take out her sister. I just wanted to share a little bit of current stoke. (er, I mean stock, right?)
