wrist pain

Tried to push-up on the swiss ball, and apparently my girlish skinny wrist didnt like it. So i have been with this light pain for few days, on the external side of my left wrist (external meaning little-finger side). The pain manifests only when doing some movements, like when i cross my arms aand the wrist gets back in sort of pushup position against the other arm. It's not painful to bend the wrist per se, but when applying pressure on the external side, if the pressure applies more around hand center then no pain. I am thinking of using some sort of antiinflammatory stuff to spread over it. Is this a bad idea? Thanks
