Anderson/Greenough 21’ Offshore Sportboat

Description:
“Perfect Light” is the first Anderson/Greenough boat pulled from the mold in 1992. George Greenough hand-built the plug of this new boat for Bill Anderson who is George’s exclusive U.S. boatbuilder. Bill has built a lot of these 21’ hulls in the past 19 years and it is a very well proven design. Each boat is custom built for the owner. This boat is very suitable for commercial or hardcore ocean sport applications and has proved itself in extreme conditions in the Santa Barbara Channel. “Perfect Light” was originally powered by A 140 HP Volvo Penta engine but was repowered and repainted in 2001.
Engine:
The engine package includes a 2001 MercCruiser 195 HP, 4.3L, V-6 engine, with 445 hours. The outdrive is a MercCruiser Bravo 3 with stainless steel counter-rotating three-blade duo props. The boat cruises at 20 knots and reaches a maximum speed of about 27 knots.
At 20 knots this boat travels about 3 miles per gallon of fuel.
A 100 mile trip burns about 33 gallons, which is extremely economical.
Other features include a stainless steel fuel tank with a capacity of 60 gallons (180 mile range), in-deck fuel fill inlet, two stainless steel hydraulic trim tabs, various spare engine parts and tools.
This engine has been started every 7-10 days since new and has been maintained by Marine Services in Santa Barbara.
One of the safety features of Anderson boats includes the sealed engine compartment. The engine compartment has two raised shelves for the batteries, an overhead 12-volt light fixture, sound proofing, two vents, fan, large fiberglass access hatch, pole (for propping hatch open) and a bilge pump.
The boat is equipped with 12-volt electrical system. Electrical features include two marine batteries, alternator charging system, battery isolator switch and dockside battery charging system.
Cabin:
The helm is equipped with forward/reverse throttle set, adjustable height steering wheel, Boat Leveler trim tab control switches, dash/overhead mounted electronics, and dash mounted gauges. Gauges include RPM, oil, VAC, cruise log, temperature, voltage and were replaced in 2001. Electronic and navigational gear includes a Furuno GP-1650F GPS plotter, Furuno 1623 radar, Standard Horizon VHF marine radio with external speaker, Ritchie compass, and USCG standard running lights.
Overnight accommodations are provided for two people in one large forward V-berth.
The dining settee can be easily converted into another wide bunk that comfortably
sleeps another two.
The cabin is fully enclosed and has one forward hatch (can be used for anchor pulling) and
a large removable molded hatch above the drivers seat. This is a very warm and comfortable
boat which makes overnight trips easy.
The cabin has a built in seat for the driver, seating for four at the dining settee,
seven windows, gray marine fabric covered cushions, and gray carpeted interior walls.
Four 12-volt light fixtures, lots of shelves for storage, easy access to the electrical panel,
and three under-berth watertight storage compartments.
The hull design is a modified vee, with forward chines and a “w” stern that make it very suitable for West Coast sea conditions. This unique design enables the boat to stay on a plane and maintain a high speed in both forward sea and following sea conditions. This is a favorite choice among commercial fisherman from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. Construction is a hand-laid, vacuum bagged fiberglass hull, hand-laid fiberglass decks, and non-skid deck surfacing.
Deck layout includes deck at bow, narrow walk around side decks, working cockpit and a raised aft deck over engine compartment. Hull and deck features include rubber rub rail, radar, two stainless steel grab rails over cabin top, two scuppers, raised gunwales, spare ground tackle, saltwater hot water return (for after surfing or diving) and full-width swimstep.
Anchor gear includes anchor, chain, bow roller, two posts and anchor locker. Safety gear includes fire extinguisher, first aid kit and docking lines.
Two large storage lockers are built into the sides of the cockpit. They will each hold several short or long surfboards up to 9’6” or many dive tanks.
In the cockpit there is a large flush hatch (32” x 65”) with a wet storage area beneath. There are four lifting points built into the boat for pier launching by crane.
The oversized Hydrohoist, with almost new dockside control box, keeps this boat out of the salt water and free from marine growth and outdrive corrosion.
Low maintenance equals a happy owner.
I’m building a larger boat so reluctantly this Greenough 21’ is for sale.
